Default pretty bad scratchmarks....

I took the day off yesterday, hoping that I can enjoy my 2month old is250. I drove around the neighborhood and ended up going shopping at the mall. I parked pretty far with no on either side of my parking space. An hour after I got out of the mall...there's this huge scrape mark across the side of my bumper...luckily its not bent...or dented but it left a pretty nasty mark..its painful to look at it. sigh...there's always something wrong with me..last week i lost my 60gig video ipod and on top of that my brother broke my canon rebel...any help would be appreciated! I just dont want to get scammed at the body shop, thanks all!
I just want to know, how much would it take to fix the damage..an estimate? or should i do it myself(had some experience with my old car) and fix it later when the bumper gets even more F'ed up?

thanks, btw..if you know any shops in NY, LI ...let me know!! thanks again

It looks like a minor fix from what I can see. A typical respray in California would be about $200-300. They can probably blend the small scratch right above the bumper. A clay bar would take off some of the paint transfer, but I would definitely repaint.

How in the world does that happen?

Someone just drive by and scratch it? People are so mean.

Boy I really hate to see that. People just don't seem to take any care anymore.

I had the same type of thing happen recently... I was parked out in the middle of nowhere and someone bounced a door off the car so hard it left 3 side by side marks where the door skipped over the surface, in a nice big dent.

Gooid luck getting that repaired.

I had a scrape somewhat larger but similar to that on the reap bumper of my RX300 a couple of years ago. Miracle Auto Painting fixed it for $469 and it was perfect - you couldn't tell anything had happened.

use some meguires heavy cut cleaner. It will pull off the white paint that the other car left. And see how it looks.

I agree that your suggestion is worth a try, but what makes you think that is paint from the other car and not primer from the OP's car?

That is the perfect excuse to get a Street Fighter II Turbo Edition Honda civic bumper!! JK
Should be less than $300 to fix at a good body shop, no "cleaner" or polish will fix that.

This is a little off-point from your question but, is there a video camera in the lot where you parked? The same type of thing happened to a friend's car and when they saw that there were cameras covering the parking lot they went back into the store and were able to positively ID the car that struck their parked car.

I'm sorry that this happened to you.

Find out who did it and kill them. That's what I would do.
