Ok...just debating what size to get. Although 20s look sweet on this car, people tell me it's not recommended as a daily driver. I use the car to commute to work everyday, about 180 miles a week. I have a 250 RWD and don't want to change the rotors just for looks. But if I go with 19s, I might not be happy. Then again, 19s will weigh less depending on what type of wheel it is. Also there's more rubber. So you see, there are pros and cons. I've regretted wheel choices on previous cars. I don't want to make the wrong decision again. I'd like to hear what you think.

you've already said it, "if you go with a 19, you might not be happy" so already you're leaning towards the 20's. my car now has about 20k miles on it, and probably the last 12k was on the 20" and lowered. yes, the car will lose some ride quality but i know you will love the way it looks. im sure there are people that will jump in and tell you that 20's are too big for your IS, but just look through the aftermarket wheel thread.. actually, look at Cathafer's car she just switched from 19" to 20"... truthfully, you can go wrong either way. i just like seeing another IS on 20s

20's? too big for me, the car is to small for 20's i rather go with 19's but is just matter of different taste, if like more the 20's go for it at the end you'll be the one enjoy it not the rest of the people. if you go with 19's you'll be regreting every day.

I agree. But on the other hand, if I go with 20s, I may not be happy with the ride quality. You're right, it's a matter of personal taste...and how sensitive one is to ride quality. It would help if I can test drive. I don't know of anyone in NorCal that has 20s. If there is, send me a PM. Keep it coming, I'd like to hear other people's point of view. Maybe someone will make a comment and a light will turn on to influence my decision. Thanks for the replies.

A friend of mine got 20s 245/30 on the front 255/30 on the rear, lowered on Eibachs... car looks awesome but ride is awful. used to rub only on u-turns, but now rubs going over any dip or just making regular turns. he doesn't wanna raise it back up cuz it'll look like a 4x4. i think if you don't want to do extensive suspension work, then go with 19s.

its simple, if you care about looks get 20s , if u are about performance get 19s. If u like a lil of both then get 19s becuase u will have great performance and they can still look good.

As you may know I have 17inch on my IS250, looks too small to the car... My fun has 19inch on his IS250 and I had a ride on it the ride quality is not as good as mind but acceptable... so I am thinking to get 19inch later on but 20inch!? I dubt on the ride quality and the lost of power!!

Well...I'm definitely one for just looks. I have a 250 and don't plan to increase hp. It's a daily commuter that I want to look good in. You're right, depending on the wheels, 19s can still look good. If I put on 20s, I just won't be able to stand it if the ride quality sucks. So it looks that I'm leaning toward 19s.

However 19"s will weigh a bit less than 20"s = less rotational mass = less power required per rotation. Also, 20"s = a stiffer side wall due to lower profile = you feel more bumps in the road, and some will argue less traction.
There is no question that 20"s look terrific. However, IMHO 19"s are big enough for this car. 20"s look outstanding on the GS and LS models.
