That is true. But, how many customers know the difference between 06 VIN# and an 07 VIN#? I've never checked it on my previous purchases....

You might not know, but your state will when you register the car, and your insurance company will when you buy a policy.

The model year is also on the manufacture placard on the driver door frame, on the tuneup specifications sticker under the hood, on the owners manuals, and on the window sticker.

I can't imagine any dealer foolish enough to try it.

I do check the "Build Date" on the new cars I buy. (Excluding my special order ones as in my '06 IS350) Reason? Cuz years ago I was cautioned by a friend in the auto industry that some cars sit on a dealers lot and sit on the lot and sit.............and they get what he termed as "lot-rot". Makes sense to me.

I will not buy a car with a build date of say Jan. ?? and there it is, still sitting (and rotting) 10 or 12 or worse, 13 months later. Even if it is a DEAL! Yes I've seen them too. One even was moved from one dealer to another. Made it look like a new arrival.

"Lot rot" has never been a problem for me. Somehow I always find myself lusting after hot new models with great writeups in the car mags -- the ones that dealers can't keep on the lot and where negotiating a decent discount is an exercise in futility.

I know what you mean. However I do remember a specific Barracuda with a Hemi in it that was starting to get the "rot". No one wanted that car. Well, I did but couldn't afford it at the time. Wish I did buy it. Probably worth a few 100 grand today.

Why did it sit so long? One reason was that the "Hemi's" of that era (late 60's, early 70's) had no warranty. You bought it, drove it off the lot and it was ALL yours. Sorry, a bit off topic.

Of couse a lot of people in that part of the world wear fake Rolex's and fake designer goods. So what? It's pretty sad people would tack on a fake fin to try to impress other people when they are really the tackiest ones in the bunch.

guys lets go back to the topic...
Anybody installed sharkfin on their 2006 IS350/250 and utilize the xm antenna for their satalite radio?. Any pic of the install? How hard is it to remove the headliner?

You are correct. When I first inquired about the part from my dealership parts guy, that is what he told me.
