Default Got my snow tires on...

Hi guys,

I got the Nokian on the 18 inch wheel of my Lexus IS350, I must say, its a HELL OF AN IMPROVEMENT, the car handles fine, I mean on pure sheet of ice its obviously a bit skiddish, but what car isnt, other then that wow, man I might even keep these for all seasons, I was making turns at pretty high speeds and the car was hugging the road like the skin on my BONES.

Good to know... thanks for the write up. I suppose these would be amazing on my 250AWD then.

I read that they (winter tires) really fall apart quickly in warm weather.

Hi DKA,

The Nokians are said to be perfect for all season, but they wear out quicker too, I think the Nokians if used all year only last 2-3 years...

I got Pirelli 240 's put on the other day. Huge difference from the Dunlops. I scared the hell out of myself with the Dunlops last Sunday, had to park it somewhere overnight. After I got the Pirelli's on I went back to tackle the hills that got me on Sunday. WOW climbed them all, then I drove around for about an hour climbing the steepest hills I could find. The tires make all the difference. I would say that the car handles better in snow than my old car which was a front wheel drive altima with all season tires.

Bring it on Alberta winter!

Excellent thanks for posting this. This is exactly the kind of report that I've been waiting to here. A comparison with FWD with all seasons compared to the IS with snows. Awesome, so I guess I'm ready for the Toronto winters huh?

Yep, Benny you won't have any problems with a good set of winter tires like the Pirelli Snowsport 240s.

I just picked up a set of Vredestein Wintrac Extreme yestrrday, for my IS 350.

225/45/18
245/45/18

Probably will put them on the car in 2 weeks. Anyone know what the offset needs to be to fit the 245's in the rear (since default is 255's)?

Thanks for the report!

Kal Tire said the WRs are guaranteed for 100,000kms. That would be more than 3 years, Jatt.

They promote the WRs as "all-weather tyres" so does that mean all-seasons or just a winter tyre that can be run in the summer? If so, how can they guarantee for 100,000kms?

Nice tires, I take it you have an IS250? Cuz I didn't think 16 inch rims would clear the IS350's front brakes?
