Painted emblems, before & after pictures
#62
I used 3M professional grade double side tape. It is gray in color with red protective cover. It is about 1" 1/2" wide. Be sure to cover the entire emblem. Otherwise you will have water problems. The tape is the same used by Lexus. It can be purchase at Home Depot. Be sure to wipe the back of the emblems with alcohol prior to taping.
lol this post was back 2006, hope you're still here
what do you mean by water problems if i don't cover the entire emblem?
i recently just rearranged my emblems and used the same 3M double sided tape
the grey double sided tape with red backing
but i didn't cover the entire emblem off to the sides but rather just the middle of the emblems as i noticed that if i cover the entire emblems.. the tape shows in the gaps if you look closely
i'm worried that they will fly off if i use a high pressure wash to wash them
i mean.. i can't really pull them off now.. and i don't wanna pull them off and realign them again cause i like the position they're in now

removed the emblems with dental floss, then used some goo-gone to get the remaining glue off my car (be careful, as i apparently scrubbed too hard with the rag and left a ton of swirl marks. had to get them buffed out before replacing the emblems) and also used 3M double-sided emblem tape. Used the paint/adhesion promoter in the pics. they turned out really good, although i wish they were just a little darker, but i get lots of compliments on them. enjoy.
(oh, i also tinted the tails with some dark smoke vinyl from metrorestyling.com)
