I just realized that my car doesn't seem to have auto-dimming auto-tilt down mirrors

My (Lux pkg) side mirrors tilt (if I have it set on L or R, instead of in the middle), and I'm pretty sure they dim, too. I think it might be hard for some of you to tell about yours, depending on the tint on your side windows - try it with the window open.

When I first got the car I was in doubt if the outside mirrors actually dimmed too. So what I did, was take a flashlight and while sitting inside the car, roll down the window and point the beam directly on the outside mirror. You have make sure the beam is reflecting right back to your face. Intially you will not see much of a change but after about 2 second the mirror will start dimming. Also if you do this test in a garage with the garage lights off, it'll be easier to see the change. Another thing, make sure your rearview dimmer switched to on or else your outside mirrow will not dim. You can push the button on and off while looking at the outside mirror to compare the changes.

Mide side mirrors dim without a doubt. I have the luxury package and the outside/side mirrors tilt in reverse and dim. More than once, they have dimmed too much and have hit the "auto" button on the rearview mirror to turn the feature off. All three mirrors slowley return to normal.
If you have the lux package and your outside mirrors do not dim, something is wrong.

Maybe I can help, here....some of you may recall I had the issue when I first got my car that I didn't think the outside rearview mirrors were autodimming. After a lot of discussion, I realized that they were dimming, but they dim to a bluish hue, as opposed to the greenish color that the inside mirror dims to.
It's definitely not as dramatic an effect as the inside autodim, but they do get the job done. Keep in mind that the outside mirrors dim when the inside mirror sensor picks up light, i.e. they don't have their own sensors. Also, they can be controlled via the switch on the inside mirror...so if you want to see what kind of a difference the outside autodimming makes, hit the switch at dusk, and (while carefully watching the road, too) check out the mirrors, it takes maybe 10 seconds for them to switch from dimming to not dimming.
Hope this makes sense.
