Part painted Carbon fiber
Hey guys I bought some carbon fiber parts (hood and trunk) I am planning on painting them. I know alot of people don't like carbon fiber and if you don't there is no need to respond to this. I know alot of people don't like the look.
I have a silver IS350
I am trying to decide wether i want to candy coat the hood so you can see the carbon through the paint or paint the sides of the hood to go with the lines of the car and paint the bottom of the trunk so it almost looks like a carbon fiber strip going down the car with the exception of the roof.
one kicker the painter is not able to candy coat with silver candy it would have to be another color. he does not have a silver paint.
does any one have experience with candy? if he had white and the carbon fiber hood is blackish gray would it look silver? any pics?
one or the other or a combo. Maybe blue or orange Candycoat i want it to look differnt! thats why.

White Candy will make the carbon fiber look faded... milky consistency. The only thing I could suggest is go with a darker color shade... I've seen them on Red and Purple. But on a Silver car.. hmmm...
Or you could have gotten the Silver Carbon looking hood/trunks... that could have solved your problem.

hrmm, thats tough for your color car. id say leave the hood as is personally, trunk i'd prob paint body color.
anyone ever had problems not running hood pins? i do 80-100 mph almost every day for 40 miles on the toll roads and wonder if I should use pins

Why would you use hood pins? I don't think your hood will come off.

just every site i go to regarding cf hoods they say hood pins are highly recommended. guess they are worried about the latch pulling apart from the hood but i've never seen/heard of this actually happening

A civic trying to be hot stuff on the freeway with me while I was going 80 flew by me going at least 90, 95 and suddenly his cf hood opened and poof! smack in to the windshield, even had that big seibon sticker on the front too.. I guess that can still happen to any quality of cf lol. Hood pins would of saved his front wind shield.
