I have noticed that the dash on the IS isn’t as tight as it used to be. It’s hard to believe that this is happening.
On the passenger side of the radio/climate consol, the gap line between the dash and plastic frame is the thickness of a credit card or less. On the drivers side I could fit three maybe four credit cards in it. The car only has 6K miles on it, and is 6 months old.
Does anyone else notice this about their IS?

I have the same problem. On either side of the nav console, the gap is about a credit card thickness. Above the center vents at the dash, the gap is three credit cards (I actually stuck 3 cards in easily). The side gaps are tolerable but noticeable, but I find myself eyeballing that center gap everytime I'm in the car. I think it's unacceptable and mars the quality of an otherwise beautiful interior. I've always noticed the center gap (my car is four months old) but they do seem to be getting larger.

I have the same - passengerside is what I consider "good fitment", drivers side is sad.
Makes me wonder why all the raves about quality and fitment. IF you get the right light, you can see the clips or whatever holding that center console in through the crack. Junk! My IS300 had better fitment
I also dont understand why the dash doesnt' sit flush w/ either of the doors. there is a huge ugly gap there when the doors are closed.

TMC's quality standard for panel gaps is usually +/- 1.5mm, or about 1 credit card. so say one side is on the small end and one on the large, that's 2 credit card thickness variations...or one on one side, and 3 on the other.

Mine is an 06, but the gap was tight when it was new. It's very interesting to hear more than one person is having the same problem on the drivers side only. I wonder if it has something to do with the push button start? Maybe there isn't a mount behind it? Maybe it’s just attached to the dash? I am sure this is a long shot.
I sent an email to my Service Adviser today. He wants me to bring it by so he can look at it. He said he hadn't seen the problem yet. I am nervous about letting them work on it, for fear that it won't be the same, should they take the dash apart. I am disappointed about quality of the dash material. It is soft (gel like), but it shouldn’t be separating already.
And I just send off a survey for a independent researcher that reports to Lexus directly. Raved about the car.
I will keep you all posted on what the advisor says tomorrow.

Ericm,
I totally understand your concern over the service dept taking the dash apart because I had the same fears when my IS had to have the entire headliner taken out and put back in (to fix a moonroof issue).
However, you can't even tell that they touched the car and this had to be done twice (long story, search forums for moonroof if interested).
My point they seem to be really good at this stuff so don't fret over it too much... I know I just about made myself sick over it.
