Had my IS250 awd for 7 months but not during the winter. Looking foward to seeing how it performs on snow and ice. Anyone care to share their experiences?

Living in alaska, the awd of the is250 works well(blizzak revo tires)
I have lost control only once and that was making a right turn at an intersection on a green light where I forgot to slow down enough and when I hit the brake I started to slide into the next lane(big truck there) so I gave a bit of gas and made the turn. need to slow down period... in bad weather. Going up icy hills has been easier than in my 4wd truck(at tires).
one thing I noticed is that if I put it in snow mode and the car thinks it is not needed, it turns it off automatically.
best thing is that my wife has never driven in snow/ice before(is250 is her daily driver) and she feels confident driving to work daily and thats all that matters to me.

Will be interested to also hear IS250 AWD that is *not* equiped with winter tires.
Where I live (MD/VA/DC), there are not enough snow to justify switching back&forth between all season <-> winter tires, IMHO.

I'm in Toronto and have only had the car for a month, so it hasn't seen snow yet. When I bought it I asked the dealer about getting snow tires. I expected them to say yes and to try to sell me some. To my surprise, they said I don't need them. The salespeople drove them all last winter on the stock Dunlop A/S tires and had no problem.

^ that's what my salesman told me too... but i got winter tires anyway... maybe they just don't want to scare you off by adding another $2500 to the price tag... :P

I also live in Toronto and also have the AWD, and my salesman said that you might be able to get away with it if there isn't a lot of snow, but if we get a big storm or too, they are defenetly perfered. They recomended Steelcase Tires in markham instead of buying the aloy package from them.
I can't wait for the first snow storm to try it all out.
