Mod with most HP gain?
#16
The JoeZ intake is a good intake to purchase. It is proven to add power on every application in an IS350 and I can speak from experience that it works and works very well. As I posted above the combo of a JoeZ and a filter is less than a Fujitsu, LMS or K&N intake and gives just as much power if not more. It is also easy to install and will not make the Lexus techs mad since all you did was change a pipe rather than take out the airbox.
The best exhaust system for power is the one from LMS. All of the other offer different sounds but about a 5 hp gain on average. You can check the dyno out on the car linked below to see what the LMS exhaust can do for you.

I still think the JoeZ is a good buy and will help the car feel more "peppy".

CARB is also working hard to make aftermarket cats illegal unless they are specifically qualified for an engine group. They basically want to kill the aftermarket in CA because they don't want to use intelligence to determine compliance, only conformity with the OEM configuration.
If you live here and really want to hot rod your car, buy something pre '72, buy a faster car, or deal with the issues of passing smog later in the car's life. My Supra has been "test only" for the last three times I've had to get it smogged because DMV discriminates against Supras.

Any other comments from people that have the Tanabe? I want to really make sure the sound difference is worth it before I purchase. I really dislike the low tone of the stock exhaust. Being a former G35 driver, you gotta know where I'm comin' from The JoeZ + Blitz + Tanabe might be what I am aiming for. Comments on this setup?

i don't think you'd really be unhappy with any setup. the tanabe exhaust isn't very loud, but it is loud enough to notice a difference from stock. i'm happy with the tanabe because any drone while cruising on the freeway would annoy me. coming from your g35 background, you might wanna go with the greddy, just a few hundred bucks more but significantly louder i hear. not sure exactly where i saw it but i think someone might've posted sound clips.
