Also in the event that a rock does break the headlight, glass won't get all over the track because it will be held together by the tape and that will prevent further damage to tires and cars. No one wants a blowout during a track session.

i think my headlight assembly is plastic.
i was bored messing with my Nikon D40 by the lake, ill try to get some more after i wash the car
