I have had several conversations with people at the gas station and parking lots. This car just seems to have that little something special. I doubt too many TL owners and such get the "nice ride" stuff at the local fill up station or the "up front parking with the big dawgs"

Anyway, I too looked at all the vehicles mentioned in this thread. None of them made we want to purchase one. Nice cars, just not what I wanted. Since I did not need but only wanted a new car, I waited. Saw the IS350 in a showroom while checking out the LS with my father. Instead of kicking the LS's tires with the old man, I go test drive the 350. Find club lexus, find out everything and more about the car, wait for the 07 and now 3,000 miles later I'm one happy car owner.

the 07 G35, an 06 m3, and the 07 335i. the 335i was by far the closest to the is350 and seriously was faster then even the 06m3. That car is so fast it's insane, but I just didn't want to be a "bmw type guy". Here in dallas they are like standard issue. You have to have the bmw, with the vertical stripped shirt, and flat front khakis to exist. I didn't want to be in that clan. I also like the inside of the is much better. bmw still needs to prove their quality with me. oh and the 335i was 3k more.

Well, not really - that was 8 months ago and the landscape has changed. Now there is the next gen G35, the TL type S, and the much hyped 335i to consider or perhaps re-consider . . .

I test drove the following:

06 Acura TL: Good power but it handled a little soft to me.
06 BMW 325i: Loved the handling, but didn't have enough power. Would have considered going with the 330i, but I wasn't about to buy a car that no one had on the lot to test drive. Besides, paying extra for certain paint colors seems ridiculous to me.

I didn't test drive these, but would have considered these:

06 Infiniti G35: I'm sure it's a good car, but didn't want to spend that much money on a car that would look like the old model with the new one coming out in less than a year (since I bought my car last December).
Mercede Benz C class: not enough power IMO.

Well actually we bought two car in Aug 06 the full loaded IS350/06 and ES350 /07 UL. Traded in the MIT 02/GTZ for the IS350. The best things about the "IS" is it is a true Lexus car through and through. Second the power is a trill, for someone that has had a back round on some of the fastest motor cycles of the 80's like the Honda CBX 6 cylinders 0-60 in 2.8 sec. that's fast and the IS comes very close. Oh want a feeling.

I so totally know what you are talking about here. In Houston, it's not only the BMWs but the Mercedes too... you couldn't kick up a rock on the freeway without it hitting at least two 3 series and/or C classes, LOL!

BTW, I'm seeing more ISs here BUT nowhere near the number of BMWs or Mercedes.

Now with a baby on the way I'm regretting my choice a bit, but when I purchased I also looked at:

ES350- felt I sat too high, and felt it was a bit too "old man" for me.

TL- the seats were horrible... namely the lower seat was too short, and I couldnt get comfortable

Volvo S60R- Wife wouldn't go for the volvo, knowing body change was coming next year.

BMW330- interior felt too bland, felt overpriced once options were added.

MercedesC class- Just didn't like it.

Now if I was shopping today for a new car I'd be looking at

-V70R
-V50
newG35
-A4 Avant
-ES350

I pick up my 07 IS350 on Monday. Didn't really look at other cars but did think about the 07 BMW 335. The fact the I would have to wait till March combined with paying close to MSRP the IS350 was the only choice. It's going to be my wifes car and we traded in her 05 G35 coupe which she loved. That was until she test drove the the IS. The G was nice and very fast but it was also rough when driving over bumps. This is her first 4 door car and she can't wait to get it. I haven't driven the Lexus yet but speed wise how does it compare to the 05 G35 coupe.
