Default Buying a new IS350 today, I think

Buying a new IS350 today and was wondering what people thought was a fair price. The one I looked at had a sticker of $42,500. I don't like to negotiate back and forth when buying a car and I usually have a set price I will pay going in. I am thinking of paying no more then $39,000 for the car but wanted to get other peoples opinion on if I could do better. Is there a place online that gives pretty accurate invoice prices and does anyone have advice on getting the best price. Thanks everyone and I hope to join the Lexus family tonight.

Edmunds.com is actually very accurate as long as you match up the MSRP price. There should be almost 4k profit w/in that price range. Good time to buy, dealers are slow right now and they wanna make deals...well we're slow in CA even at Toyota. Dunno how TX is though. Too close to holidays, people hold off, you kinda have the upper hand. Offer 500 over on an instock unit!

There are pricing guides galore online with dealer invoice prices (edmunds.com is one, or intellichoice.com). Start there and figure out what the dealer is paying and use that as your starting point and negotiate UP. Whether $39,000 is a good price is an unknown. Does it include taxes, title, license fees? If it does that means you'll have to get a price in the $36k to $37k before these items. That's a stretch because most dealers aren't going to discount an IS350 from $42,500 to $37,000. It's not impossible, but it is a stretch.

Good luck.

Go to a bigger dealer w/more cars instock. 39,000 plus fees sounds like a fair price to me though. Dunno if you're gonna get more than that from an MSRP car of 42,500. That's 3500 off. Enjoy your new car!!

Go at the end of the month. I bought an '07 350 on 9/30/06, MSRP $45K, paid $41K. Don't be afraid to visit/call other dealers to see if they can beat the price.

Irishfan,

Did your price of $41K included all the tax, title and license? Or $41K is the price before all the TTL?

If you paid $41K OTD for an 07 IS350, that's an AWESOME deal that you've got. Please kindly let us know, thanks.

that sounds like a very good target. my sticker was $44,337 on my IS350 and I got $40,737+Tax/tags. felt like I pushed the deal very close to falling through...

Timing is EVERYTHING. I would wait until the day or two before month ends to make this deal because the dealership is very motivated to move cars.

1. do your research. edmunds.com, cars.com, autobytel.com, msn cars, etc... lots of websites out there will give you lots of info. use it to establish your desired price.
2. know your budget and stick to it. don't let the dealers muscle the price up.
3. best times to go buy a car: month-end, calendar-year-end, and model-year-end
4. call dealerships ahead of time to check inventory availability. don't commit to a visit until you have inventory confirmation.

Sorry, it's a 2007 with navigation but not the ML. I think it had a power rear sunshade but not sure. The $39,000 is without the TT&L. I have read about people getting $4,000 off MSRP so I think $3,500 seemed fair. I know a car like this is a luxury and not something I need so I am one of those people who won't buy if I can't get a great deal. Although, it's going to be a little harder since the wife feel in love with the car. She has been driving the G35 and never thought she could find something she would love more, till she drove the IS350.

Here is what Edmunds gives.

National Base Price

A note about advertising fees $35,705 $31,420 $35,705

Total with Options $41,983 $36,611

They show about a $5,400 difference between MSRP and Invoice. Maybe I should try for $38,000 without TT&L. I will report back tonight.

No, don't I wish it was $41 OTD...I believe the final was a little under $43K out the door. Something I noticed too while shopping between dealers: one was completely unwilling to do anything below $43.5K (not OTD), and the next one I went to was absolutely dying to make a deal, hence the $41K. I think it may have had something to do w/ sales quotas for the month? In any case, just because one dealer isn't willing to play ball doesn't mean the other one won't. Nov. 30 is right around the corner, give it a shot.

Look for no more than 2500 on the sticker of a 2007 model. About 1200 off is standard for a Lexus but you can talk them into around the 2000 to 3000 mark max. But it depends on the options. I got the ml/dvd nav/lux package combo and being that they are a bit rare I could get a max off the sticker of only 2500.

Well I am confused if this is a good deal or not? I am getting a 07 IS 350 with sport pkg, ML, Headlamp washer, park assist and ISP wheels on the car for $43,500 + Tax + Tags, MSRP is $46,350.

Please advice if this is a good price for the car or do you think i can knock off some more $$$ off the car?
