No need for the "second filter" in the IS350 if you do not have to take it for an emissions check imo. I look forward to running my IS350 luxury package very soon. 
I hope to get it to a 13.4 if all goes well. I am pretty sure that I can pull it off. It is a little colder in Fl right now and my IS350 is running great. I hope to drag her around the end of December so that I can get it to the track while the weather is cooler.

I have no doubt that your car can hit a 13.4 or faster with your mods. Just wait until it's really cold and maybe it'll do low 13. The IS is performing well beyond my expectation. I made a comment a while back in another thread about stock IS350 couldn't trap higher than 102mph and now I feel really stupid about it lol. I'm going to get some drag radials and maybe with the right condition it'll hit 13.3 stock.

I'm actually convinced that if an IS350 isn't running 13.5 and quicker in sub 60 degrees at an elevation lower than 400ft, then either the mods done to the car are not helping or the car is just one of those that come from the factory slower. Taking a look at dragtimes.com and looking at my own runs I'm pretty confident in my statement.
BTW... this is based on having 1/4 tank of gas and spare removed only. No drag radials or any other forms of weight reduction. Stock or modified intakes and exhausts don't make much of a difference so far at the track and negligible gains on the dyno.

Also I think depends on the driver. If you drive your car like a grandma without ever using the ecs mode then the car will just be a little slower since the tranny learns that you are not a "Fast" driver. This is my understanding of the "learning" transmission.
I do not drive fast all of the time but I do "punch" the car every time I drive it getting on and off of the expressway and passing people quite a bit of the time. I also do runs in the car in a back neighborhood on some fairly straight roads. The neighborhood is empty right now...only the roads are in and no one lives there so it is a good place to run the car.
Since I installed my JoeZ I have noticed much harder launches than before and an increase in pedal feel when mashing the pedal. It may not make too much of a difference in drag times but if you notice all of the cars running pretty good et's are also running modified intakes. May not be true of all cars but I think it is a high % that are modified.

I think Lexus tuned the IS to the max. Thats why an aftermarket intake only give gain of 5-6whp and this is on a 3.5L V6 engine. The 2.0L engine from the acura RSX can get more gain than that with an intake.
About our tranny learning our driving style, I don't know what to make of it. Honestly I drive very slow daily, I barely get on it at all. I guess the little burnout at the track trick the tranny into a more aggressive mode but I might be wrong.

If you pin your foot to the floor the ECM doesn't care what mode you are in or what it has learned about your driving style, it will deliver best acceleration. If you aren't pinning your foot to the floor...well, I don't know why you went racing.

Your car is running strong!
I remember running my IS in 110* weather with one passenger in the car; I only managed a 14.1 @ 99, and that was with a 2.0 60'.
The weather must be super nice over there!

thank you and you cut an awesome 60', my car usually can't hook for some reason. My best 60' to date is 2.094 and it usually cut a 2.1x, I'm thinking sport package suspension swap to help with the 60ft.

Has anyone tried drag radials on the stock IS 18 wheels?
I'm betting we can pull off 1.8 60' on a well prepped track, which should be good enough for really low 13s.

Looks like only the P245/40R18/LL will fit, but isn't as wide as our stock 255's. I guess the extra stick is still better than the stock 255 non drag radial.
