Default Intakes and Exhausts

Hey,

I own an IS350 with 19' ZE Forged Black rims...and now I'm ready to do some performance mods. I was looking into intakes first, and the companies that I found manufacturing intakes for the 350 were LMS, Fujita and K&N. Does anyone have any opinions on these intakes? Anyone have them already installed? Also, what would be the order from BEST to WORST. Also, I was looking into the newly released Borla exhaust. Anyone have it installed already? If so, how does it sound and look? Any noticeable hp gain? If not, does anyone have any other ideas for exhaust? Regardless of price...

Thanks for all your help
-Brandon

haha you're gonna get a lot of different opinions about best to worst. your best bet is to do a search under 'intake', 'exhaust', 'fujita', etc. just remember you need at least 4 letters to do a search. hp gains for intakes will probably not be noticed. you'd be getting it mainly for sound. same with exhausts other than the lms but you'll probably get smog issues with that one. hope this helps!

Only 100% proven intake under all conditions in all cars is the JoeZ. If you need an intake now spend the 120 it costs for this and then wait for an intake with more gains. So far the lms gains nothing, on average, the fujitsu gains very little and the k&n gains about the same as the JoeZ but it costs 250 and does not fit under the engine covers correctly. Injen just released an intake and I would wait on true dyno numbers on that intake vs the others. My 2 cents...save you some searching.

Not true - the K&N fits perfectly under the engine covers. You can click the link to my image gallery for pictures.

does no one have true dyno numbers with the KN intake? I know it claimed to add 11HP. I know the JoeZ doesnt add eleven hp. Can someone clarify?

a lot of the aftermarket intake companies will CLAIM but rarely do they actually produce. i think fujita claimed 20, for example, but i'm pretty sure no one has gained 20hp on any part of the powerband.

personally i like the lex/hks exhaust. exhaust and intakes dont really produce significant power numbers(sometimes they dont produce any hp), i would go more for look and sound then power gains.

yeah you'll get many different opinions. Im running a LMS w/ Aem Synthetic filter and a custom heat shield. Seems to work for me, and im actually looking forward to the Injen one. Injen has high reputation for gains and quality so im hoping there will be dyno charts out soon. i think Jdmekcivic said he was one of the prototypes that Injen used. As for exhaust i think tanabe has the most bang for the buck. At around $5-600 u get 7hp gains but if u get the Lexus/HKS one its about 10hp gain, and i think another 3hp is not worth 3hp. But u do get it covered under warranty .... so ur pick man
