Default 91 Octane Availability in NJ? (No, not the 87 vs 93 debate)

I've only been able to locate 91 at Sunoco - everyone else seems to go from 89 to 93. I'm fine with paying the extra couple cents for 93, just would prefer 91 if I could find it.

Any suggestions on gas chains to check?

I've never seen 91 in NJ. Even the Sunoco stations near me go from 89 to 93. Why would you prefer 91?

Bichon,

Asking about 91 because it is the recommended minimum octane rating for the 07 250.

Same in Ontario, Sunoco has the 94. And if you fill up late at night, the prices usualy drop.

I have only seen 92 and 94 at Sunoco, and not 91. In fact, I've seen 86 at our local Sunoco which is really odd, but that is neither here nor there.

If you want to run 91 and save the few pennies, fill half your tank with 89 and half with 93. It'd be a PITA to do though considering even if you pay at the pump, the machine probably won't take your card twice in a row, so you'll have to go inside and pay and then do the pump thing all over again.

Probably not something you want to do, but an option nonetheless.

Has anyone filled up their IS with 100. Just curious to know what the performance would be like?

The best and most efficient octane to use in any engine is the lowest octane that will not induce knock, anything above that is a waste of money.
