Default how many percent is Tax + license in CA?

I'm crunching the numbers to bring to the dealers for negotiation. Would it be safe to say tax + license + other fees in CA should be around 10%? I also know there should be around 300-400 for advertisting fee added to the final price.

It is about 10% of the final price of the car (give or take a little, but in general, it is so).

Advertising fee? Never heard of it...

I'm in SoCal and my TT&L was exactly 9.2% of purchase price (of which 8.25 was sales tax) Don't let the dealer tack on any extra BS fees like advertising, etc . . .

I read in many threads stating that the invoice from www.edmunds.com and KKB is lower than the dealers invoice. In the end, they claims there are about $300 for advertising fees added to their amount.

*** Just found out it varies from county to county. I live in Alameda county which is 8.75.*** Guess I should shop outside my county to save money.

Sate tax is 7.25% but most counties have an added assesment of at least a hlaf point or more. Here is a list of CA state and county taxes: http://www.boe.ca.gov/pdf/pub71.pdf

Registration on our car purchased in June was $312. The sales tax should be 8.25%, of course, depending on the county where purchased.

Will you be tax via the county you purchase in or your county of residence? I ask because my brother purchase his new GS a few years back in a different county but he was paying the tax bracket from Alameda which is .5 higher. The dealer called him back knowing they made the mistake, but since they already have a verbal agreement, the dealer took it as a lost on their end.

It's based on where you live and not where you buy, otherwise no one would buy here because tax is so high. lol

Good luck with your purchase.

Depending what county you are in... But there is a calculator online on their website at https://mv.dmv.ca.gov/FeeCalculatorWeb/index.jsp

in light of your question, if your tax rate=8.25%, the out of the door price should be approximately "your negotiated price x 1.094"

Hope this helps
