Metal isn't metal but plastic. I think the wood looks far classier, as it's glossy and deep in color. If the metal trim were actually aluminum or brushed metal then maybe I would reconsider. As far as carbon fiber or piano black goes, I think that would just be too much black in my black leather interior.

The poll is flawed in that it refers to "aluminum trim". There is no such choice on the IS, you either get silver plastic or wood veneer.

While I like the real aluminum trim offered by BMW and Audi, I find the silver plastic used by Lexus unconvincing, and not terribly luxurious.

I wish the piano black trim from this car were available (though I'd pass on the gaudy two-tone leather):

In that case I choose plastic. Cause I don't think it's made out of wood or metal

I preferred the Lux package. Thus I have wood. I didn't have a choice. At least for the '06 model. (or did I?) It was immaterial to me since I wanted the Lux package and would have taken whatever that pack came with. So, the wood is just fine with me.

Aluminum fits this cars sport profile. But I want to replace it with CF now...

My RX was wood trim int. I don't like it much... Yeah Wood trim is classier but not my cup of tea... IS is a sport sedan I don't see any connection between a sport sedan and wood trim int. I like the way it looks now metal looking int. I love it

It really depends. Aluminum on plush leather is truly the ultimate blend of Sporty and luxury.

the piano black doesn't look too bad... but i don't like the glossiness. i don't like the wood trim because the clearcoat? scratches easily and makes it look ugly. but i do prefer it over the wood in my dad's x5...

There are some folks that prefer a matte finish over a glossy one, that's a matter of prefrence. As far as the scratches are concerned, gonna have to disagree with you there... The silver paint scratches a heck of a lot easier than the coating on the wood trim. Not only does it scratch easier, but the scratches are more noticable.
