ooh i didn't know that. i wanted to trade my trim before for the aluminum, and it seemed like everyone else wanted to as well, but no one wanted the wood. it's a moot point now that i'm getting CF. i know the scratches would be more noticable, i just didn't think it was easier to scratch. too bad lexus doesn't let you choose or even order it after the fact... but either way we'll see plenty of different ones come out sooner or later.

Hate wood coated with the high gloss plastic. Prefer a matte finish like the wood found on a soarer

the wood trim is nicer IMO. However, those of you what are going to get CF....

The wood just wont look right. The overlay goes on top, meaning when you open the cupholer or the ashtray, you will see more wood. Even worse, you may see red even with those compartments closed

any overlay is going to look like crap. If you're going to put in any time or effort into making them, do replacement pieces.

Yea, but when it comes to keeping that particular kind of wood happy, the last thing you need is some plastic trim, no matter how much it may look and feel like the real thing.

so if someone offered a CF replacement, not overlay, how much would you guys pay? i was gonna dish out $400 for the overlay but i dunno what a good price is for a trim replacement.

and since the overlay turned out like crap, i think i'm gonna scrap that idea and find someone that'll make me a replacement, just dunno how much to spend on it.

I agree. I like my IS with wood, but here is my old A4 with matte wood. Looks classier IMO

I think they should offer a black/dark grey wood for the Sports model instead of the "painted metal" . . . they maybe saving carbon fibre for the IS-F . . .

That was exactly my thoughts. Had all the wood trim in my ES. Thought the IS looked sportier with the aluminum....okay okay PLASTIC.

I can see if you've never had the wood trim that you might want it. It does make for a more luxurious look.
