Default Wood Trim vs. Metal: which do you prefer?

There seems to be pretty strong opinions on both sides over which trim is more desirable in the IS (wood or metal), so I thought it would be helpful to hear from a broader cross-section of CL members.

Wood for me...the "metal" looks cheap in my opinion.

I'm not a big fan of excessive wood in a car, but I do like it.

The IS provides a touch of class with minimal use of wood. I like the proportion and usage.

If Lexus comes out with a Carbon Fiber option, I'll be willing to trade up in a heartbeat!!!

neither. wood trim is in odd places... and brushed metal looks a bit tacky. couldnt they just uniformly keep the metal all around rather than the brushed metal?

Depends on what kind of wood and in what car. I loved aluminium I had in my M3 but hated the wood I had in the CL600 even though it was real. I like the wood in the IS because of it's color. Some cars look good with wood and some don't. I love the wood on Ranger Rovers the most because it has a nice color and isn't as shiny as others.

I agree. Wood looks better in some cars and aluminum in others. I think either looks fine in the IS, with a small preference to wood, but thought the wood looked aweful in the new G35. I would have gone aluminum easily with a G35. I think Lexus did the wood trim in the IS pretty good by not having too much and it's nice color.

Wood plus cashmire for the lux look. Agree with vortex...i drove the G35 coupe and wood looks like poop. I think because it has more of a 'sports car' feel then a lux sedan like the IS.

I like the wood because every chic that has rode in my ride likes it. Also, the metallic reminds of something like a g35. If i wanted that look I would have saved 8k and got one of those. I like how they just used a little wood too. Like it's a good mix. sporty car, but you still know you are in a lexus when you get in.

I like the wood, but I'd rather have the aluminum... but just so it would be easier to paint
