Driving up to Hearst Castle over the weekend at about 70mph. Sunroof was closed but I noticed a ton of wind noise, almost sounded like something wasn't sealed properly. Never gotten any water in despite a couple rainstorms and washing the car many a time.

I usually drive with the sunroof shade closed so never noticed this before.

Anyone else run into this?

I experience the same noise as you when I'm driving with the sunroof closed. There's a lot of wind turbulence. Perhaps, it's a design flaw? Hopefully, it's not a seal problem. I haven't notice any water leaks though.

I think you should take it to the dealer to check it out, mines has always been quiet.

I had the exact same problem, turns out the sunroof glass was warped slightly. Once they replaced that, no more wind noise at high speeds. Took them 2 days to figure that out, but they got it right.

I had the same issue as brel523, warped moonroof glass... do a search on wind noise and you should be able to find my thread about the hell I went through to get it fixed.

BTW, replacing the glass did the trick. Whisper quite now.

Mine is quite.

The only problem I have is a very infrequent rattle of the sunshade, but not moonroof glass itself, nor any wind noise when closed.

Get it checked. It seems like warped glass like what everyone else is saying.

Thanks all. Good to know. I also have a fair amount of wind noise on the driver side window frame but none on the front passenger side. I wonder if this is the same issue or related to the annoying ticking by my left ear.

i have wind noise issues too but the thing is...i don't particularly hear it coming from the sunroof... i mean i was going 20 mph and still heard it... which i'm a little dissapointed... sitting in my brother's new GS and my IS comparing the differences between the two... there's a big difference...the gs is silent... the is... is fairly quiet but i just think i'm picky and i want it to be silent.

Mine is quiet...the only sounds I ever hear are a bit of tire noise and my JoeZ intake at WOT. (But thats ok)

Did you ever get this figured out? I have your problem but it's coming from my passenger side
Overall this car is TONS noiser on the hwy than my ES? It's not a huge deal, but that's one thing I did like about the ES, whisper quiet on the hwy. I realize this has much lower profile wheels and a firmer suspension, but the excessive howling etc, is a bummer!

No noise when it's closed, but oh my G is there a lot of wind noise when it is all the way open at 70mph. Louder then my last car by far. Last car I used to forget it was open, not in my IS.

Not yet. Car is in the shop for the 5K and the nav update. Will let you know if they succeed. IS loaner isn't as loud.

Mine is quite a bit noisier with the shade open. Those who have got theirs fixed by replacing the glass - is it equally quiet with the shade open or closed? If so, I'm going to have my glass replaced...
