Default need help with the clock panel

Guys, I have two questions.

My system is on v5.1 disc and I got the original 6.1 that I am planning to upgrade to. You have all been saying to downgrade firmware I have to take out the fuse. If I am upgrading from v5.1 to v6.1 Hybrid, do I still need to take out the fuse?

Also, I am having a hack of a tough time taking out the clock panel, for one I don't have the in-vehicle tools. Mine was a used car and it didn't come with those tools. The dealer is looking to get me a replacement, meanwhile I have tried all kinds of things, from paper clips to 14 gauge wires, but I couldn't get that "click" sound from those two clips. No luck.

Can someone share with me your experience with removing that damned panel?

You shouldnt have to take the fuse out to upgrade. Thats only when you are trying to force a downgrade. Without those tools though I really doubt youll be able to get that face plate off without damaging something, or even at all. I would wait till you had them first.

Agreed. But if you get 6.1 from the dealership they should take care of all of that for ya.

They are small, 1" diameter suction cups... They would work perfectly I'd imagine...

You need to do:

1) The standard wire cutting nav hack (which will give you movies, caller id, bluetooth, and mp3 folders while driving.
2) The software swap or add a switch that kills the speed sensor (either of which will give you destination entry while moving)

Make sense?

Perfect Sense!!!

1) is easy

2) which option is more practical and why??

Thanks for the quick reponse!

can someone check the 6.1 dvd for me? i'm trying to see if the bridge to the right of the Charleston penninsula is still the Charles M Silas bridge or the new Arthur Ravanel Sr. bridge, the construction completely changed downtown and i only want to upgrade once the disks have it fixed.
