Confirmed New Map DVD Data: ver .07.1
I guess I'll be the 1st to tell you all that the 2008 IS's with Nav come w/ the new software...
SO, before I do any hacking.. is there anything I should do and/or try first???

Yes, 7.1 introduces a short "don't look at me while driving screen" which automatically disappears after 5secs, but also doesn't allow you to get past it in less than 5secs.
If upgrading an older DVD, it updates the firmware and disables the override present in most/all 2006 IS. However, a hybrid disc with 1600 firmware can be made to allow both 7.1 map data and override (allows entering nav dest. while driving)
Not sure if Technique already stated it somewhere else, but when burning a hybrid disc, make sure you do it as ISO9660/UDF (not full UDF). Nero doesn't support ISO9660/UDF with >2GB files, so use Prassi or GoldenHawk software which allows 4GB files.

I had a weird one happen when updating my 05 lexus rx330. I was going from 4.x to the 6.x maps with the 5.x over ride. new maps loaded and I still had the over ride. The problem was I could not select a region. It was just blank and the change button did nothing. This in turn disabled address input and any poi info, since it did not know what region to search. Although it would still navigate to memory points.
Same Here except I didnt use the 5.x and now I've lost my override

Putting my 4.1 back in restored everything back to original except for the override is now gone. If I could just "reset" the nav and go back to my 4.1!

Glad to report here that I got overide to work on my 07'. I had a u30/5.1 disc originally and the nav firmware was 1650. Replaced the loading.kwi with one that is of the same region 'u30'. Used imgburn to create the .iso and Nero 7 to burn the dl disc. O, and I used a Verbatim +R DL disc and NEC-3520A burner. For those that are having trouble burning the hybrid disc, first make sure your burner is running firmware that supports bitsetting booktype.

I'm trying to get a handle on this. Please confirm:
1. The "hard" version (cutting wires; installing switch) allows NAV input while driving, caller ID, phone number input while driving, dvd watching, BUT can cause nav issues (I don't understand why you would do this if it will cause NAV issues)?
2. The "soft" version (hybrid disk between 5.1 and 6.1) only gives you the ability to input a new NAV destination, but doe not give you caller id, phone number input or dvd watching.
Am I correct?
