Currently we have two Garmin 2730 street Pilots for each of our two cars. We are ready to replace our RX330 next month. A must have accessory for any vehicle we get is a factory navigation system because I want to have the much larger and much more useful map display. We certainly prefer another Lexus RX series because we have like our RX330 so much. However, this is rapidly falling off our short list solely because the navigation system is not fully functional when the vehicle is underway.
I am debating whether to just use the new disc because the firmware might improve the speed of the system.

If my Lexus can tell when the passenger side airbags should be on, Why Can they not program the Nav to work while driving if a passenger is in the car.
If it worked when a passenger was in the passenger seat then they could use the Nav system.

What does the screen say? If you are getting the japanese letters, just press upper left, lower left, upper left, lower left and it should eject...

Don't take it to the dealer... Keep pressing the corners of the nav screen and the disc should come out... try different conbimations, like upper right, lower right, upper right, lower right... Or upper left, lower left, upper left, lower left... Let us know what happens...

Technique,
So grateful for your help with my 2007 IS250 about two years ago. I am back with a '09 ES350 with the 8.1 Nav. Has anyone confirmed the question of whether the V1550 firmware will work with the V8.1 DVD Nav data?

Can someone post the vital stats of the 8.1 DVD to this thread, please? I haven't seen the disc yet and I'd like to see a directory listing with file sizes and part numbers for the DVD if someone could take the time.
Thanks!

No dice!
Ok I took my loading.kwi file from my old 5.1 disc, combined it with my 8.1 data. I get a "cannot read program" error. This after unplugging battery.
Mind you this is the same procedure I followed back when I made a hybrid disc with my 7.1 for my '06 IS.
Anyone have any suggestions on what to do?
There has to be more to it than the loading.kwi, just by looking at the file sizes, 5.1=46meg 8.1=116meg!

I'd suggest trying a few more times, and maybe burning a new copy, double check your book-type, etc...
