I’ve made some pretty substantial advancements. I noticed the original composite video cable which I made by cutting a video composit line open and simply running the severed signal and ground lines to the relay which powers this hack... we’ll, this setup had 1.6 ohms of resistance. So I figured maybe if I can reduce the resistance I can get a better signal and hopefully get color.

well I was wrong, made a better video cable that only has 0.6 ohms of resistance and no noticeable difference.

So finally I gave up and put the dash back together. Then this morning I pulled up at home and randomly decided to hit the switch and what do you know... I’ve got some color... but it’s not constant.
It switched back to black and white after a few minutes. So I drove off and watched as the color came back.

unfortunately, I didn’t really have time to pull out my multimeter and do some testing but this is a pretty big breakthrough on this issue.

thanks, I’ll be sure to post an update if I figure out how to regulate the color in the display. a part of me thinks it’s the video source. I wanna get my hands on a ps2 or a old school component style DVD player see how that works
