Some could mistaske a 1st gen with a Altezza looking Civic. of course not me, but the 1st gen was clearly a designed tuner. I agree with the luxury analysis...It is clear the new customer...more of a young profesional.

I can't believe anyone would want a yellow ISx50. Maybe it works on a sports car (like a Viper or something). But the 2IS is simply too refined for that.
Leave the yellow where it belongs - on taxicabs.....
And for the record: The old IS300's may be sportier, but they're damn ugly. I always think Honda when I see 'em. I'll stick with the 2IS - it's so pretty.......

I don't think the IS series lends itself to a yellow color. The lines are just too formal and sophisticated.
However, I do like the Blaze Yellow color on my 2002 Subaru WRX. It is a very light, almost buttercream, type of color. It works on this car and after 5 1/2 years of ownership I've never gotten tired of it. And I still get compliments from people (got two last week from a neighbor and a stranger on the street). I think the problem with most yellows is that they are too bright and have too much orange and red in them. They are too 'mustardy'. But a good, pearl sheened yellow in a light shade would be very nice on many cars.

Maybe you should have gotten the 'gold' one. I didn't see one, when I bought mine, but my saleslady told me I would "not like it" because it was "too yellow" for her. I saw one on the road once, after that, and it was okay, but too light a shade of gold color for my taste.
Have you seen a gold one yet?

I don't think Lexus eliminated the yellow color due to it wanting the new IS to be more luxury, but rather Lexus wanted the new IS to be more a more mature car. The previous IS wasn't as refined as the new one is... which is why many 16 year old kids are ricing the hell out of them these days. Lexus wanted to separate themselves from that image.

of course..why else would I make such a comment? I use to want one really bad, but copped a E class instead. If by sportier you mean less agile, less power, sloppier handling, and a turd smeared "Sport" interior, then yes the 1st gen was "WAYYY" sportier. The one thing that was definitely "sportier" about the 1st gen was the manual. Other than that we can argue about all the other subtleties to no avail. Back to the gross yellow topic!!
