That may work if you get pulled over, but you have a higher chance of getting a ticket by meter maids or parking cops. I've been popped twice by LAPD meter maids in downtown, seems like the city of LA is hardup for revenue

Congrats! How did you get it without the front plate already grilled? My Lexus dealer told me that they had to do it because of the laws, blah blah when I complained about it. I eventually took off the front plate anyways and plugged the holes with bumper plugs from Aerotect.

It is a law but there's a "gray period" until the plates come in mail and however long you can milk it until you get caught.

Here's what I did:

1. Make sure to pick a car "en route" - before car arrives from port and holes are drilled at dealer.

2. Beg and plead salesperson - it's a huge PITA for them as they have to "catch" the car at 7 am before the techs get to it with drills.

3. Sign a waiver promising you won't blame the dealer for any tickets.

4. Bring salesperson a thank you gift to show appreciation.

mine came w/out the holes in the front bumper for the license plate, and i didn't have to do anything. guess i got lucky.
