Congratulations on the car! Definitely a good call not to get the front plate drilled. If you ever get pulled over, just keep the front plate in the trunk, show it to the officer, and tell him that it's the dealer's fault. (This has worked for me 5 times in the last year)

Congrats! How did you get it without the front plate already grilled? My Lexus dealer told me that they had to do it because of the laws, blah blah when I complained about it. I eventually took off the front plate anyways and plugged the holes with bumper plugs from Aerotect.

It is a law but there's a "gray period" until the plates come in mail and however long you can milk it until you get caught.
Here's what I did:
1. Make sure to pick a car "en route" - before car arrives from port and holes are drilled at dealer.
2. Beg and plead salesperson - it's a huge PITA for them as they have to "catch" the car at 7 am before the techs get to it with drills.
3. Sign a waiver promising you won't blame the dealer for any tickets.
4. Bring salesperson a thank you gift to show appreciation.
