I just ordered the CF kit. I should be getting it sometime next week, but I won't be getting it installed until after Christmas.

Are you guys interested in the kit because of the look of carbon fiber, or because it saves weight, or what? Me personally, I'd rather have all of the body panels match, and painting CF pieces seems like a waste of money. To each his own, though. It's still fun to see pics of it on other people's cars.

I have always liked the look of the carbon fiber and its differnt than what most people have. the weight is just a bonus

the weight isn't a bonus. you're not going to save any significant weight by going CF on this car.

i personally am interested in the look of a CF lip on a SGM car, as its a similar shade and could be sutble. if its too noticeable i would prefer a painted lip, just want to see.

I would probably only get the CF kit for a black car, I personally don't like the contrast.

No but it is noticeable I installed the hood and trunk by my self and the difference is noticeable and you can also tell by how quickly the hood and trunk open in CF with the struts.

The total package weight of the hood and trunk (yes both) 40lbs. Hood 25lb and trunk 15lb

The stock stuff is not as light as everyone thinks

Hey that and I lose a couple pounds its something.

its pretty light. a c/f hood/trunk/lip/gas cap will be more durable but thats it, unless your tracking. if you're happy that you spent double the money on parts so they delatch faster i mean thats great for you. but driving your car you will never notice the difference.

if your interested in weight saving, gut your interior.

your trunk and hood are from seibon and you want to know how closely the fabulous c/f lip matches, thats what you were asking right? there's a closeup of the c/f lip running around if you want to compare that way

Ok kids...

According to edmunds the IS350 curb weight is 3527lbs

So....do the math and you have the following ratio...1 : 11.5

Now take out the trunk and the hood weigh for the CF savings...1 : 11.4

It is JUST a small savings and maybe the "butt dyno" says "faster" but in reality it MAY save you a 10th in the 1/4 mile.

BUT if you like it thats ALL that matters!

P.S. remove the back seat at the track and I bet you will be down to 1:11.4
