OP: I must be missing something - are you talking about the interior lights when your HL are in Auto mode ? 'cause I don't have this issue, but then again my HL are not in Auto mode . . . You're in SoCal, why do you need to be in Auto mode anywho ???

Yes. When in Auto mode for the headlights (and the dash lighting intensity **** is not turned to the max):

During the day/sunlight, the Nav screen is in Day mode. The map is white, and all the buttons/dials in the dash are lit with low intensity lighting.

During the evening/night, the Nav screen is in Night mode. The map is dark, and all the buttons/dials in the dash are lit with high intensity lighting.

However, the problem is that when I pass a shadow, the car/sensor reads it as night, so the nav screen changes instantaneously from Day mode to Night mode (and back). I think I might be killing the life of my lights (head lights, fog lights, and interior lights) because they turn on/off so frequently throughout the day.

Yes, I can keep the headlights off from Auto.
Yes, I can turn the dash light intensity to max.
Problem fixed!
But this is not the point...
