Default Light detector sensitivity is killing me...

So, I'm getting annoyed at the fact that my Nav and lights keep changing with the slightest changes in brightness/sunlight.

I go under a bridge or a shadow of a building and my Nav and lights automatically turn to night mode, and as soon as I pass it, it turns back to day mode. It's getting on my nerves...

I did the Personalized Settings already so I don't want to bring it to the dealership.

Can anyone help? Anyone have a solution? HELP!!!

It's not just Lexus that has this "issue" if you want to call it that.

All the time, I see Audi's, Infiniti's, Nissan's, Mercedes, etc going under bridges and having their lights turn on only for them to turn off as soon as they leave the bridge.

Like someone said, take it off Auto if it's that annoying.

I think he meant the interior lights.

This is one of the complaints i wrote to lexus when i received my review... I just deal with it, but i did suggest a fade verses the instant change in brightness. A fade would be less annoying. And it would prevent me from looking into the instrument panel even though I know what happened--its just a automatic glance to see what changed.

oh in that case then you can always just keep the nav and interior lights in day time mode that way they won't keep switching from dim and bright everytime you go underneath an overpass or something.

Didn't someone post a cheat sheet that allows you to change on a scale of 1-5 how much light there needs to be before turning on? Or am I thinking about BMW... Sorry, been looking at Infiniti/BMW/Lexus posts all week. I forgot where I saw it.
Anyways, check with the dealer if there is such a thing. Its like the setting on if you want the doors to lock when the car starts to move. Its a "hidden" option you can change.

btw, if thats the option you were talking about earlier, then nevermind.

Yes, I remember seeing a 'sensitivity' setting for the auto headlights, and I'm pretty sure I read that it also affects the nav changing to night mode. I think it was in the instrument panel settings, where you select a function, and then < or > to change it. Yours may be set to high sensitivity, so you could change it to low, to keep it from changing so easily.

It can only be changed using a Lexus Scan Tool.

I think there is a "cheat," but I'm not aware of it.

I know you can change the light sensitivity (scale 1-5) through Personalized Settings, but I want to find out how I can do it on my own.

Well, I thought I remembered having that option (1 to 5) when I first adjusted everything, but I just went through the manual again, and the above posters are correct - it is a dealer-adjusted setting. (See pages around 118, and 402.) I don't remember ever seeing a 'cheat sheet' on that one, so I think you're going to have a choice of turning off the auto switching (for the headlights) and just living with the nav not changing back and forth, or go to the dealer to change the 1-5 setting from 3 to something else.
