Is it a good deal? I'd say yes... That does not translate to it being a smart thing to do however. The rattle from the moonroof is a little flap that comes up when the roof in tilted open and as far as I know, the 07 design is the same as the 06.

Given the amount of your loan, this is a extremely poor use of your money. The goal is to get out of debt, not increase your debt load. It isn't about the $50 more a month you'll pay but the AMOUNT of the loan. If you can't afford to pay the difference in cash, you shouldn't do it.

Every car has rattles and annoying sounds. Generally it does take a few tries to get them nailed down. Be realistic in your expectations.

If you read the first page, you'll see that that idea was already suggested and rejected.

I have an 07 with almost 5,000 miles and not a single rattle or squeek
Fingers crossed that it never changes

umm... you'll be losing on tax... again when you sell your car.. they won't give you the tax.. the tax goes to the government... in CA it's 10% for everything pretty much...

let's say it's 4k more.. you're not going to be paying a tax of 4k .. it's going to be the total amount of like say 38k. 38k*0.10 =3800 + 4400 (you're assumed amount) = roughly 8200 ... am i wrong here? cause this is seriously not worth it ...

If the total "out the door" cost of the upgrade is ~$4K, then that sounds like a reasonable deal. You will get some of that money back when you sell the new one since it will be 1 year newer with 9K less miles.

I don't know how sales tax works in your state, but in Texas, they only charge sales tax on the trade difference (new car price minus trade in allotment).

If you have to ask if it's a good deal it sounds like money is a significant concern. If you are only trying to solve an issue with your current car, I would give the dealer the opportunity to repair it and make you happy until the lemon law requirements have been met. At least that way you won't be out anything for the change. As everyone else said, there's no significant mechanical difference between the '06 and '07, so IMHO, I wouldn't do it unless it was a no money deal.

Guys, just an update of what was going on with my car, i was back and forth with the dealer about the moonroof rattle & squeak problems and Just got my car back from the dealer, its fixed now, no rattling or squeaks at all. What they said was in these cars for some reason dirt gets in around the rubber seal and it rubs against the body, everytime you go over the bump resulting in a squeak. So they took apart the moonroof assembly, cleaned out that area really good and lubricated the seal. I just hope it stays this way now

Man, I know every vehicle has some sort of rattles, ect; but is the IS really that bad...? There's no way the IS is worse than my G35. I'm on my 2nd RX350 and yes there are rattles, but my RX is no where near the rattles/squeaks/creaks that my G35 had - at less miles.

Sounds suspicious to me. However, if you use your sunroof much, you should clean and treat the rubber seals with Shin-Etsu Grease as part of your regular maintenance.
