It's much smoother with the short-shift kit. I don't have the F-Sport clutch.

Seriously, I'm at 63K now with a 2006 IS250M. My clutch isn't slipping at all unless I push it really hard: pedal to the floor, accelerate to 6500 RPM, change gears.

For those who have worn out clutches, they really shouldn't be worn before 100K. Are you riding your clutch in traffic? Do you put your foot on the clutch pedal and rest it there? Anything less than having the pedal fully up means you're engaging the clutch and introducing wear. I'm not trying to be insulting and say that you can't drive, but I'm bringing up something else that hasn't been mentioned before.

I'm at 77k miles on my original clutch. I got the jar of marbles on startup at 64k miles. I got all the fluids changed right after and it took care of the noise for about 6 weeks.

I feel the clutch is going to start slipping. I'll probably milk it to 90k miles, but I'll be happy to get to 100k early next year. I'll probaly do F-sport clutch by independent mechanic.

When I get the clutch replaced do I have to or recommended to do the fly-wheel as well?

Have your mechanic check the flyhweel, it maybe reusable just resurface it

my clutch feels like its gonna start slippin soon im at 30 000kms. I dont ride clutch, dont rest my foot on the pedal (ive seen chicks do that and dont even know!) i dont keep clutch down ever, only when i need to shift ill use the clutch.

No, they won't resurface it. It's a multi-piece flywheel and not intended to be resurfaced. I've heard there is a shop specializing in Porsches that does properly rebuild and resurface multi-piece flywheels (like the LUK flywheel on the Supra) but the rebuild is ~$1k. The flywheel has to be disassembled to prevent the abrasive from getting in the bearing surfaces that allow the front and back plates to rotate and absorb shock. It might be easier to get someone to adapt a lightweight flywheel, but then you'll likely have a rattling noise from the gearbox when idling, just like Supras do with LW flywheels.

good luck and let us know the outcome....

For the last incident, i took their deal, Lexus Factory end up paying for the parts (flywheel& clutch assembly) about $3500, but i have to paid $1500 for the LABOR.

But after i got them fixed, within 4500 miles, same thing happened again and they still blame me for my driving habbit.. and Lexus Factory was saying they helped me on my last incident already, but.. in 4000 miles.. r u kidding me !!

Anyone have any idea what i can and should do right now ?
i dont want to just sell it and let this pass, i think for a corp like lexus should take my car back to really exam the causes of it for their future goods.

I think is the same issue. I heard rattle comming from my tranny when I accelerate or climb a road with rpm between 2k at 3.5k. If I floor the gas I doesn't heard the sound.
My dealer say it doesn't heard the sound.
Is that the flywheel sound problem?
Do we have other choice in flywheel replacement?

I have my lightweight fidenza flywheel in my closet waiting for my clutch to officially go. I have almost 94k miles on it.

For the record I'm getting a Spec clutch and installed by non-lexus probably in Febuary.

Anyone install their fidenza flywheel yet? I haven't seen any reviews.

Thumbs down diesel noise

hey guys..

I drive an is 220d and I must say to you that the transmission noise is horible

I had the gearbox and the clutch assembly replaced under warranty, but the noise is still there

now I have some discussions with them to replace the car with an IS 250 AT

the difference in fuel consumption is not so big, so I can live with an IS 250 also.

keep you informed about the situation

regards

Hey Sailing217,

Did you install your flywheel yet? I was thinking of getting a new flywheel with the F-Sport clutch, but I'm waiting for it to really cause problems before I pull the trigger.
