can we stop with this 335 vs is350 and 330 vs is350.... there's so much of these here...
can't we all be happy with our cars.. if you aren't go return it.. we should all acknowlege that 335 is a very nice bang for the buck car and move on

I'm not a fan of turbos. Plus, I've never driven it, but I imagine it's probably only negligibly faster in a straight line (if at all) due to turbo lag, 6 fewer ponies, and the same weight. I appreciate that the Lexus gives me 306 hp with a NA engine.
Also: BMW + 1st year model + turbo = unreliable IMO. To boot, the interior is not on the same level, AND it's another 4-5K more.
And before any bimmer fan flames me, I understand the advantages of the 335. It has a better suspension and probably handles better, and is more fun to drive, plus it comes in manual for the true sports car enthusiasts. I still consider the IS the better option for the reasons listed above.

Then I wouldn't talk about it if you haven't driven it. I have yet to drive it either but every person I've spoken to said the car has no noticible turbo lag. It also has ~25 ft/lb more torque than the IS350.

I'm just speculating, is that not allowed? I imagine much of what goes into people's car decision is based on what they expect from a car, and not all of it is based on first-hand experience. This is especially true if we've already made the decision and we're trying to imagine how our decision would have changed if a different were out at the time...

If it was available when I was buying my car, I would have considered it, but probably would still have bought the IS. Feature for feature, the BMW was just too much money. I mean you even had to pay extra for metallic paint for crying out loud.

It's the most expensive car in it's class. An Acura TL is bang for the buck, not a 335 BMW.. Sheesh...

i've been planning on getting the is350 for a while now and now I'm leaning towards the 335i. The lease deals are more favorable and I really like the alpha male look to it. i'm probably going black/black in mid october.

Yeah, the coupe definitely looks pretty fly, but I've never been a fan of the styling of any of their sedans. And the 335i is no exception.
The look is also brought down a notch or two by the fact that every other luxury sedan I see on the road seems to be a 3-series or a G35. But then I guess the other side of the coin is that there are so many for a reason...

I had that very choice, I chose teh IS350.
I think I made the right decision, but I know I'm always going to have what could have been in the back of my mind. Turbos + chip + 2 doors + 6 speed. Fast car!!
BUT, I could not pass up Lexus service, huge discount over MSRP (bmw gave 1g), over all price, insurance and other factors.

For myself, I find a better need for luxury comfort, great build quality, a smooth ride, straight-line speed, good gas mileage, and awesome looks. Ergo, I'd still stick with the IS350.
BMW has got the performance and handling. That ain't any good for me while stuck in traffic on the 405...

Stayed with the 350 still, though the beemer is simply sweet. If it was only me, i would get the 3-series.
But reality sets in, some reasons why I'd still get the 350.

- The 335 is more expensive for one than the IS, so to get a comparably equipped 3 series, you would need to spend a bit over 50K. That alone prolly would have put it out of my price range.
- two doors only, with a 3 year old and a new born, need the 4 doors.
- Reliability, the Lexus wins hands down, and the beemer with new technology...very apprehensive

I bought my 2007 IS350 two weeks ago. Before buying it I test drove the 335i coupe and I still went with the IS. It is just that the combination of luxury/sport was better for my specific needs and power felt about the same. I never looked back.
