is350 definetely has the nicer interior (gadgets, etc.) however I prefer the bmw 335i. I'll probably get the navigation in it.. so the interior wont be too bad

Although the 335i acceleration and handling/road feel are big pluses, I still would have gone with the 350 because of:

Cost
Lexus reliability vs. BMW
BMW interior is somewhat "blah" IMO

Most of us complaine that 335i is a 2 door and lexus is350i is a 4 door..... but with that useless back seat in is350.. it might as well be a 2 door anyway.. no one fit in that is350 back seat beside a child...

Agreed. I think the interior of the car looks better without nav too, as opposed to the ISx50, which to me seems incomplete without the nav screen. Also, speaking from a buyers point of view, I wouldn't buy a used IS350 without it but would look for a non nav BMW.

I finally drove a 335i on the weekend and I have to say it has amazing power and road feel, much more satisfying handling than the IS350. That being said, the IS and 335 feel similar in power with the IS probably being a more liveable daily driver, but the 335 is more fun to drive. Also the back seat is surprisingly big for a coupe. It feels quite comparable to my IS300 back seat, minus the center seat.

Default Bimmer over is350

I originally had a 2006 IS350 and was very peased with everything until I had the brakes changed at 15,000 miles. It didn't bother me that I had to change them so soon but it did **** me off that it cost roughly $500. While my car was in the shop I test drove the 335i and it destroyed the IS's performance, ride, and in my opinion looks. I got my IS back and immediately traded it in on the 335i. I also got raped by the trade-in witch was only 30 grand when i paid 43,000 for it.

Talking IS350 VS 335i

Now that the BMW 3-series coupe has officially been unveiled... what do you guys think of the engine in the 335i? I'm a bit dissapointed myself.

The IS350 has a 3.5L V6 and it has 306hp and 277 lb-ft torque . It's also been said that this engine is very limited... and that you can gain 20hp by simply changing the exhaust. The 335i is an inline-6 with TWIN TURBOS... yet it yields 300 hp and 300 lb-ft of torque. It's best 0-60 time is pretty much the same as the automatic-only IS350 SEDAN.

While I realize that 335i must be one helluva peformance machine... being that it's from BMW... I must say I'm a bit underwhelmed by the engine specs. Subaru is getting those same specs from a single turbo 2.5L inline 4.

I am the only person here that was expecting more??? I remind you once again... the BMW 335i coupe is no faster than the IS350 sedan!

Interesting first post.

Both cars are very nice. As far as which one is faster, comes down to the driver. Handling is probably better in the 335.

Welcome to the board!

No need for anoyher IS350 vs 335i topic when we have a large ongoing one here. This topic will be locked. Please discuss the 335i at this link.

Default My BMW 335i vs. My IS350

So we all have our likes and dislikes of the BMW vs Lexus argument. We have both an '06 IS350 and an '07 BMW 335i Couple (6-speed manual).

Without getting into the pros/cons of each... I did get to GTech the 335i today.

IS350:
First off, the IS350 was super quick compared to most cars I've done. Quicker than my Magnum SRT-8 for example. Our sold '06 330i auto ran a 6.6 best. The IS ran a best of a 5.5 0-60 with an average being around 5.6.

335i:
Also tested with 100 miles on the clock (yes, I'm mean), I hit a best of 4.8 seconds to 60. Bogging off the line would hit around 5.1 to 5.2 seconds. Too much tire spin (too high rpm launch) would hit around 5.2 to 5.3. The average runs just taking it easy were in the 5.0 to 5.1 range. On the 4.8 run I could feel right off the bad that I had the perfect launch as the revs matched the slight tire spin and fadded off just before shifting into 2nd gear. I did hit a 4.9 just after.

Sorry I didn't get to do any 1/4 mile times with either car.

I'm loving the new 335i since it's a different animal than our IS350. A coupe and a manual don't really make this a total apples/apples comparison; neither does the "real" price. But for $10,000 less I'd say the IS is on hell-of-a car! (I bought the IS at Invoice and the BMW was $1,000 off MSRP).

I'll touch base again when I decide to bite the bullet and get the Vishnu Program/Exhaust for the 335i!

Someone recently did a 1/4 mile test of their 335i.

13.34@104mph. Not too shabby at all..esp with the sub 2.0 60ft time.
