The Mother of all 335i vs IS350 threads (please read 1st post in thread!)

Both are fine cars. However, the BMW was just a flat out blast to drive. When you are in a BMW, you know it.
The IS is a nice car as well, handling and performance are quite good. This would be a good choice if you were not into handling, stiff suspension, cornering, etc. It is a good overall sedan.

Been wondering this myself.
The auto 335i sedan has been known to hit 0-60 times in as low as 4.8sec. Not modded. Used a gtech to show speed times.
I wouldn't mind the lexus. Seems to have better looks to me. Has more gadget features in the car, but less outside compaired to the BMW.
I'm kind torn. Both BMW and Lexus and Infiniti for that matter has only ONE dealer. So either you like the price or walk. Sad being Hawaii when it comes to that.

335i is a coupe.
I had driven the IS350, and I waited for the 335i to come out. The turbo had a better (lower, flatter) torque curve. Most of the difference however, was probably due to the better response of the manual transmision on the BMW, compared to waiting half a second in the Lexus for the transmission to shift. Still, I was dissapointed in the BMW because I had my heart set on a DSG type transmission, and it was just a standard manual. I liked the exterior styling of the Lexus better, and in my opinion, the Lexus interior makes the BMW interior look like an old Hyundai.
The back seats in both cars are similarly small, but getting into the Lexus back seats is a lot easier with the extra two doors.
And in the back of my mind, I was a little worried of buying BMW's first turbo in 20 or 30 years.
So I bought the Lexus. Still having a hard time getting used to the slow shifts on the transmission, but otherwise a fine car.

I owned a 330, however, test drove the 335 and IS 350.

IS350 Sport makes quite a difference over the non-sport ride, having come off a BMW M3.

BMW's are great cars, nothing drives better in the price range. I am not sure if Lexus, Infinti or Acura will ever have the same performance capabilities. They cannot even get an automatic to shift right.

there is no comparison!! , the 335 is 10 grand more for the same features, for that price difference you can keep your 335 and i'll take my 350 and i'll use the money difference to supercharger my car and put rims, ect...

i priced out, fully loaded is350 is about 45K MSRP, and the 335 is about 48-49K MSRP.
How are you getting 10K? please help explain. I might be seeing something wrong

However, I hope folks are not buying cars because one or the other is a few grand less.

Folks are getting the 335 about $1000-$1500 over invoice. Not sure what the Lexus folks are getting plus additional incentives from Toyota.

1)Yes there is a 335i sedan! All it takes is a quick glance at the bmw website to see.
2)I have test driven both and priced out both at the dealership. When all was said and done, the Lexus was $7773 cheaper and had the same, if not more, features than the 335i. All of this was before any price negotiations... Most people are getting their 2IS's for $2000-4000 BELOW MSRP, while the BMW salesman told me that BMW does not deal on their cars and as someone mentioned above, most 335i's are going for over MSRP. Factor in the difference and you are looking at almost a $10000 difference.
What people forget is that the Base 335i that starts at $38,700 does not come with Leather (it comes with Leatherette), it's not an Automatic, 17 inch rims, and no Keyless entry (that's extra)
That has been my expreience so far.
