Here's the final verdict:

You buy a IS350 over a G35/335i for luxury/comfort/reliability;
You buy a G35 over an IS350/335i to save money;
You buy a 335i over an IS350/G35 because you love the way a BMW looks/handles.

That's it. Those are the facts. No debate. End of argument forever as far as BMW vs. Infinity vs. Lexus

The only thing you voided was the warranty in relationship to the headlight, worst case scenario is the electronics on the whole car-

but Lexus dont break that often anyways

By adding a chip to the BMW, you void the warranty on everything drivetrain related-

BMWs are known to break

Moss-Magnuson Act- the modification has to be shown to actually have some kind of a relationship to the damaged part-

so if the motor let go in your car, legally you would be covered- if the motor lets go in a chipped 335- you are going to be on all 4 with no lube

how bout some pics of the girl? LOL

Agreed. But if you decided to go with a 335i, get the hardtop convertible...

Go for it. The good part is you can get the after market PROcede that puts out 430 lbs/torque with 91 octane. It's undetectable by the dealership so long as you remove it before you go in for service.

if thats really true my IS350 might need to say goodbye as well-

I kind of miss having a manual transmission too-

I dont care about the handling- I just miss shifting my own gears-

It is true. A chipped 335i will run with the IS-F. Every day the tempation to trade UP to a 335i gets stronger and stronger...

I always want to have a BMW or Mercedes in my life because somehow high-end european cars have better social looks. I guess it is the way for me and many from Asia (me from Taiwan). The ironic part is the Japanese culture is also a part of my culture, and frequently I can't help myself to step out of the "Made-In-Japan" circle. Every time when my pocket is ready for a new car, I would keep telling myself "Yeah, lets go for a B-or-B this time", but it always ended up with a Toyota (now Lexus).

Lately, watching my wife driving on her IS with almost full-JDM-mods which cost me more than a high-end euro car, but I am still thinking to get a B-or-B with all that ACS/AMG mods done... A least one in lifetime. BUT, on the other hand I keep saying "Wow, Wald's LS" or "Look! Junction's GS"...

Sigh, I am sure I will go for more Toyota made. I hate the conflict in me!

Just to share with you all.

Default I had a 328i

Biggest 46k mistake i have ever made. Within the first month i took it back during the span of the car took it in all the time over small problems. yes engine was really torquey and was a sporty car but not worth the pain. I even ended up getting a lawyer got an extended warranty after a while i figured i should get rid of it before i was stuck with it. Traded the son of a ***** in for a IS350. If you want a high maintence car that is sporty go for the beemer but don't let me say i told you so. I might go back to the beemer someday but no where soon that is for sure.... I have had my IS350 since aug just some squeeks i need to get checked out but that is it. I do like the full size rim and tire you get for a spare on a beemer though.

I find your statement funny... I mean, the IS-F isn't even out yet... We don't even know the official HP of the IS-F

thanks for all the input. so i took the next step and took my IS350 to my local BMW dealership to check on trade-in value. During the inspection it was discovered that my car had body damage which was never disclosed to me. I bought the IS350 used from a honda dealership (i know i should have just got a certified IS from a lexus dealership). Anyway to make a long story short, the trade value is about $2K less than what I expected due to the body work. So for now I am keeping my IS350 and calling my salesman at the honda dealership for a long heart-to-heart talk.

when did the 3-series get the back light revamp? It hated it before and I hate it now. I love the look of the front of the IS and the 3-series(w/o plates of course). The back of the 3-series just erks me the wrong way. I haven't been inside a 3-series but can someone sum up why it looks cheap?

My friend who would rate 335>G35>IS but has spent the most time in my IS says he grips about the IS because
he doesn't like the sloping door panel(where you lock doors/roll up windows)
says the g35 clock is classic
no comfortable place to put left leg(center console in way)
only 1 cupholder(he doesn't consider the one behind it as one)
bad aux place
swears the g35 nav is touchscreen, but I told him it isn't his response "how to you put numbers/addresses in then, with a turn ****?"
stock exhaust sound is weak(says it sounds like a camry)
no stick(told him lexus just doesn't do that, deal with it)
I wouldn't consider much of those complaints legitimate, but he was just being nit picky with me when I was trying to defend my IS against his G35.

If you like driving the 335 more than the IS then you should trade it regardless of what people say. If you do get it, Vishnu!!

"officially," the IS350 is rated at 306hp while the 335i rated at 300hp. which one is "officially" faster? bmw has been known to underrate their motors, how are "official" numbers going to help?

unofficially, the IS-F is probably going to be somewhere around 400-430hp. chipped 335i's are putting down very similar numbers...
