Okay..

I was at the track last week and a four door Automatic BMW 335i was out running....

He couldn't brake out of 13.8's. I don't know if he was launching or what but I think in a straight line..automatic wise IS350 wins 1/4 mile times stock to stock. Top end war... BMW hands down.

My IS on its first run ran 13.64 with a launch at 1500 rpm.

Are there tools or people out there who knows how to remove the electronic governor on the IS350? The IS350 is electronically governed (limited) to a max speed of 142mph. I read somewhere that theroretically the IS350 can do 165mph.

Sorry guys but I am changin my ride from Lexus IS250 to BMW 335 and I cannt w8. The BMW is so much more fun to drive. One of the reasons also is that the IS350 is not awailable in europe. I am also more interested in a coupe. The BMW sounds like crazy.

Yes it exists but its JDM. I'd find the thread but I have no idea what to search for. I think a fellow member found it on a Japanese tuner website.

There is no comparision between the IS250 and the 335i. I fail to see the logic.

I totally disagree; the only 3 series BMW that matches the IS350 is the 335 and I find it pitiful that it took twin turbos, to do so. As a daily driver (street car) I find the complete opposite, the BMW doesn't hold a candle to the IS350.

I can completely understand.

The IS250 is in no way comparable to the 335.

How is Lexus doing in Iceland? Lexus is a splash here in the States, but I know they have a long way to go in Europe...

Toyota owns the market here in Iceland. I think the IS250 has a lack of power and since I cannt get the 350 I am going for the BMW coupe 335. I also want to have a MT. In europe the german rule the market.

Koz i fully agree with you .Why does it take twin turbos to produce pretty much the same power as ours without?

you know that the 335 has 3 liter engine while the is350 has 3,5. I would have rather gone for the IS but they blew it not having it with a MT.

You do know that Bmw underrated the twin turbo 3.0l motor ? Bmw claims 300hp (at the flywheel) but dyno runs from owners show almost 290hp (at the wheels). In comparison Lexus claims 306hp for the IS350, and dyno runs from owners here show apprx 255-260hp, so do the math. IMHO, Bmw can prolly get up to 400hp (flywheel) w/out significant modification to the existing motor and still honor the factory warranty . . .

If the 335 was comparably priced to the IS350, I'd be very tempted . . .

If you put the blinders on and this is the only criteria, you're probably right. If my daily commute included some of the twistier sections of HWY 101, the 335 would be much more attractive. However, since my commute is pretty much straight, flat, and boring...

I'll take the loss driving performance tempered with reliability, styling, resale value, etc. I don't want to have to get an extended warranty to either keep the car or try to sell it to a prospective buyer who wouldn't touch it without.

I'm not saying you're wrong as every car in this segment has its strong and weak points.

Most of the dynos I've seen on the 350 are around 265. I haven't seen one in the 250's yet. Minor point though.

Even though the 335 is showing around 300 at the wheels, it doesn't translate into notably different times at the strip.

Agree about the mod potential though. No argument there at all.

Even if they were comparably priced I would still pick the IS350. For me the BMW interior is a mess and the exterior isnt too terrible but doesnt do much for me either. I agree in terms of handling the IS may be lacking, but since the majority of my time in the car is commuting, the trade off in handling is fine with me, I test drove it and realized it handled well enough for the occational backroad blitz.
