nice unbiased write up. in the end did your brother and his wife end up choosing the 328i? as a daily driver, especially for most women in traffic, i would presume they'd want comfy seats, such as the 250/350 you mentioned. ive seen more and more women driving 250's simply because of the luxurious feel and the fact that it will endure plenty of the road without them even feeling it. the 328i is a nice car, too. that thing zips pretty fast, and thats just stock!

I tried to be as honest and unbiased. I guess it helps that I like both cars pretty equally. I decided to get a IS250/350 due to all the horror stories about BMW's. I later found out that the issues were mainly on the 335i's with their HPFP and injectors and not the 328i. I was pretty surprised she wanted the BMW over the IS250/350, especially the one with the sport package. I could see if she was a driver who enjoyed the open road and one that enjoys driving hard, but she is the complete opposite. I think she chose the BMW for the name and cool factor. I guess telling your friends you have a BMW makes you sound cool.

I feel the 328i falls between the is250/350. to be honest, the 328i has enough power to satisfy my needs. The 250 lacked power, so i chose the 350. The 350 has enough power to satisfy my needs, I just feel I do not utilize all the power potential during my daily commute.

Nice write up. I used to work for BMW and used to test drive all the new cars haha
I agree about the feel for the road but now i work for Lexus and prefer Lexus completely.. The only BMW i would even own or lease would have to be an M series

You just can't put a price on peace of mind knowing you will have a car that can last over 250k without any major work. BMW will never ever attain this. At $160/hr labor rates at BMW dealerships, NO THANKS. The 335i is nice in theory, but has failed miserably. When I was considering the 335i, I read this one BMW forum about new owners and how reliable their cars were... Only about three or four out of NEARLY THIRTY responses reported no problems whatsoever. That right there made me decide IS 350. Oh, and the Motor Trend review, which showed the IS 350 raping the 335i in 0-60 and the quarter mile.

Here's the #1 reason I chose a Lexus over a BMW... reliability. From what I hear, especially in recent years, the reliability of the BMW has suffered greatly. The cost of the warranty reflects the poor reliability as well I would say. What good is a fast car if you can't trust it 100% like I can my Lexus which is my daily driver.
I have a friend in an M5.. he has had his transmission changed 3 times in 75,000 miles. I doubt even a single story exists like that for a Lexus.

Never seen him use statistics from an actual unbiased 3rd party source but I don't blame him.
