the IS350 and 335i to me are at the same level as far as all around cars.not just picking at each thing each company has to offer. because obviously they both have Pros and Cons of eachother what one has the other doesnt. BMW has the twin turbos for performance ppol and good handling out of the box plus good looks i own a 350 but the 335 is still a beautiful car hands down.but not good reliability like ppol said. boring interior ,no lsd, you pretty much dont feel like you're gettin what you payed for etc.. on the other hand lexus has great interior much more up to date.better reliability hands down. looks real good, still fast for what it is out of the box.(even without turbo) more fetures standard not much after market, but in the end how much do u need anyways? for example s/c kits for the is350 are available but not everyone has it S/C'D because it comes down to a money thing too, HOW MUCH ARE YOU WILLNG TO SPEND.? so if you're lookin at bmw for the performance factor hope you have the extra money to make it fast first of all and the money to keep it running.. for what you get with the lexus for the money i say IS ftw! stock vs stock i say lexus u pay the money for the luxury lexus gives you that....after market game BMW take it we already kno.so it comes down to what you really want not just whats the best car to have that everyone else wants.

I had the 335 for about 8 months and accumulated 15k, took delivery with 11 on the ODO. I had a lot of fuel pump issues and something went wrong with the turbo ( according to the BMW techs, I was going at high speeds for a long duration). They fixed the fuel pump issue, but every time something didn't feel right and after bringing it in, it was always the fuel pump over and over again. Yeah all work was done under warranty, I barely own the beamer for 1 year and sold it. My bf was going to tune the car and change the shift points, but I got rid of it. I really liked the car but it was too much work.

both cars have pros and cons... as long as your happy its all good no need to prove who's better.... but i would say it'd be nice to have a set of turbos in my IS

Don't mean to add fresh fuel to the fire, but the Mark X 350S is equivalent to the US IS350 sport:

Hey just thought I would add my voice to this thread.
So I have been meticulously searching for that perfect used car between the $19,000-$22,000 give or take one or two thousand dollars. It was between the 2008 C300, 2006-2007 3 series, 2006 GS300 and 2006-2007 IS250.
When it came down to the wire the C300 was axed due to it higher price and year which would greatly affect my import duties. What I found from pulling literally between 120-145 Carfaxes for the GS300, IS250 and 3 series. The 3 series were horribly unreliable with a number of significant parts having to be replaced: gaskets, water pumps, windscreen blades, steering wheels, instrument clusters, door handles, cooling hoses. It was as if one in 3 BMWs had a serious issue and pretty much all had as I said fairly significant stuff replaced. That is fine I guess if you want your car in the shop and if you have warranty.
Now to the GS300 and the IS250 pretty much just oil changes and the chassis being lubricated.
Therefore, I selected the 2007 IS250 as my choice due to its superior reliability.
Interestingly I would have to say that the interior of the BMW 3 series is more luxurious in comparison to that of the IS250. Frankly, ive seen JMD Corollas and Corolla variants with more luxurious interiors than the IS250.
I also went with the IS250 as I think the 3 series will be redesigned sooner than the IS250.
All in all I am pleased with my choice though I havent received the car as yet.
I see a BMW as a car to have under warranty or a car which requires you to have enough money for constant maintenance out of warranty.
The IS250 is simply for those who want a luxury sports sedan which just works.

my 2 cents
I test drove the heck out of 2008 BMW 335i coupe, 2008 Infiniti G37 sedan, G37 Coupe and the IS250 and IS250 AWD.
Along the way I also asked for quotes for extended warranty on each of them.
The BMW quotes for extended warranty even with a $100 deductible were $3500+ for 7yr/100k from my credit union and all the way up to $5000 from Warranty Direct.
The IS250 quotes were under $1500 with $0 deductible for 7yr/100k.
The infiniti were just a tad bit higher, but still reasonable.
Speaks a lot about what the insurance industry considers about each vehicle.
Now as far as handling is concerned, I have no godamm freaking idea why fking reviewers from Car & Driver and other places love the heavy steering of the BMW. I do not. Same reason I did not chose the infinity g35/37 even though it has gobs more power and space for the same price range. The IS has amazingly nimble steering and changing lanes or making 90 degree turns are a real blast. There is NO drama.
AND, best of all, the IS250 feels like a personal cockpit when you are in the drivers seat. Not so in the BMW or the infiniti. The feel is just not there.
Btw, the IS250 beats the 335i in the slalom test.
Hope this helps.

Yes. I did. And it speaks volumes about how much the lighter and sweet revving 250 engine is. I did not miss the 300+hp at all and sure do not miss it even now.
