The Mother of all 335i vs IS350 threads (please read 1st post in thread!)
Seeing as though a new BMW 335i vs IS350 discussion seems to pop up almost on a daily basis in the 2nd generation IS forum, we've decided to clean it up and make one super-thread on the subject. As you can see, the thread is already 77 pages long, clearly making it one of the most frequently discussed subjects in this forum. Sooo...
Please deposit your 335i vs IS350 banter here, and feel free to discuss to your heart's delight. Please DO NOT start any new 335i vs IS350 comparo threads.
Let me stress that all the existing Club Lexus rules apply in this thread - keep the discussion polite, mature, and respectful. This will serve as the one and only warning to be issued in this thread. This has easily been the most moderated topic in the 2IS forum, and the moderator team will continue to enforce the forum rules as necessary in this thread. Everyone has an opinion, and expressing those views is definitely encouraged - but try and use facts to substantiate your position. Also, before you sumit a reply, keep in mind that some of these posts are more than a year old (some as old as August 2006). Having said that, let the games begin...

I already placed my order for the '07 is350 blk/blk lev nav lux package w/ the x package rims. This unfortunately will take 4? months to get here...But now just checking out the BMW 335i Coupe....$40,600 MSRP w/ 300 horse and 300lbs of torque twin turbocharged v6...I'm thinking why not go with bmw. What do you guys think?

Lexus Champion
The IS will definitely give you more bang for the buck. Even with the twin turbos, the BMW is still just putting out about the same horsepower as the normally aspirated IS. I would consider the BMW if I was looking to do a lot of mods to my car. The 3 series has always been a tuner favorite, so you know they're going to have turbo upgrades out the ying yang.
Another thing is you're comparing a coupe vs. a sedan, so that's another thing to consider. (altough I heard that 335 engine will eventually be available in the sedans as well)

Lexus Test Driver
i saw a black BMW 3coupe the new one on the road, and i must saw that that car is beautiful, i used to only see it in pictures and i thought it was very ugly but in real life, it is very hot, i would probably choose one over the IS because i like the coupe profile better. but this is only my opinion, i absolutly love Lexus models, especially the IS, which is my favorite, but if i had the choice to either get (FOR FREE) the 07' IS 350 or the 07' 335i coupe, i would probably choose the BMW, and feel like i mad a wise choice

Lexus Touch Screen NAV or BMW's (crackhead designed) iDrive system... but seriously, only thing BMW has over the Lexus is the control (and i guess mods if you are into that). Everything else, Lexus wins.... Realibility, Interior design and quality, comfort of ride, options for price, safety options.
Just my 2cents.

I agree with most of the posts here.
If the BMW retains all the driving ability and feel of the current 3 series with the turbo engine it will be great to drive.
The Lexus will still have better fit and finish as well as options. If you configure the BMW with comparable options to the IS350 your total price will be higher so Lexus win there.
I would rather drive my Lexus everyday in comfort and have good speed and a descent handling car that I know I can keep 4+ years.
Look on this forum, for a 1st year production run the amount of problems (serious or minor) are very low. Compare that to the BMW forums and you'll see a whole seperate world. But I think part of the culture of owning a BMW is dealing with these types of issues in exchange for a "real" sports sedan.
You really can't go wrong with either. They might be both classified as sports sedans but they are on opposite sides of the spectrum for lux daily driver and drivers car.
