You're absolutely right - I never claimed that what I did was the smartest or safest thing in the world, but oh well - it's something I only did once and it's done with. I could have just posted "yes," in response to the OP's question, but where's the fun in that? [flame suit on]

Of course you're correct... Man, getting away with ANYTHING over 100+ is pure luck... Past 100 there's no way to spot po-po or anything... You just gotta pray he's nowhere to be seen...

BUT, there is a way to minimize the risk... When we do high speed runs, for the most part, a small group of us will stake out a 5 mile stretch of I-5 in the middle of central cali at around 3AM and stay in touch on our cell phones... We'll have 1 guy at the starting point, 1 guy midway at the first exit, and one guy at the end by the second exit... We make sure there's no popo anywhere in sight and we'll do our top speed runs on that 5-mile straightaway... There's usually minimal traffic as well, which is nice when you're running 150+ MPH...

Something fun to do is to switch to your navigation map screen and zoom in all the way... The map moves so damn fast at top speed

The 155 MPH speed limiter on German cars isn't just for the US. It's a "gentleman's agreement" between the German automakers to limit most (but not all) of their cars to keeps things in order on the AUtobahns.

Ya, I know about the gentlemen's agreement... What I was saying is, I don't understand why they do that for cars destined for the USA, since there is no autobahn here... a 155MPH limiter in the USA is retarded... Either limit it at something that makes sense, like 90 mph, or don't put a limiter at all...

And of course, I prefer the latter, no limiter...

This is true. I believe in testing Toyota hit a max speed of about 172 - 175 mph, pretty incredible for a V6-powered Lexus, but yet another example of the potential that the 2GR-FSE engine has .

yeah.,..thats true i cant get it over 140 mph. and today i visited the lexus dealer in steven creek , san jose, california. He said if I would like to bypass the system to go over 140 mph, i need to put some new chip. it cost 1000 ++ and it will avoid the warranty of the engine.

Is the IS250 capable of hitting 150mph like the IS350?

I'm sure it is just slower to get to that speed.

So what is the limiter on our cars? Some say 142, others are claiming 150+

Top speed is electronically limited at 142. It's in the Lexus factory service manual.

combfilter,

Not bashing you, just pointing out facts.

That M5 was just teasing you, if he floored it, you won't even see his tail lights past 60 mph. Those cars are especially strong at high speed, they can hang with 911 Turbo on the top end.....

Even the IS-F won't be remotely be able to keep up, 500 hp is 500 hp.
