Yeah. Half of it is parts and the other half is labor.

that looks serious. i see frame damage since that quarter panel got pushed in and crushed the door. theres probably major damage to the trunk floor. $11k seems low to me. and they have to repaint half the car.

Yeah. It's a bit low to me too. They didn't open it up yet, so there's probably gonna be more surprises underneath. They only have an initial estimate for now. From my experience, it's always gonna cost more later on as they start looking for inside damage.

What repairs did they do? Sounds like only a bumper replacement for that price.

$11k does seem like alot but it is just a fraction of the cost of high value luxury nameplates. If a newer late model German car was involved with the same type of damage...because the extensive use of aluminum body parts, expect the amount to be almost double. This is my daily grind.

my insurance(AAA) covers rental fee up to $20. normally the other party should be paying for the rental if it were their fault, but it took two weeks for them to receive the police report to find out whose fault it was. but after two weeks i didnt want to go through the trouble of taking my car back and getting a new rental, so i just stuck with my corolla.

Mine is up to $50 and I have an Impala for now. It has no antilock brakes, so i'm gonna switch it for an SUV cause it might snow while I'm renting.

If only everyone had PCS, rear-enders would be a thing of the past...

Better yet, it would be nice if people paid attention to what's in front of them!

Just got switched over from the Impala to a Chevy Equinox SUV rental... Joy. Guess that will be my winter beater.

And paid attention to what's behind them. Then maybe my car wouldn't have been hit in a parking lot last week.

Yep. Some woman driving a little SUV at my friend's condo ran right up the front end. At least she left a note (of course, one of the neighbors wrote down her plate number just in case). Damage isn't too bad -- I wiped some of it off (the SUV has a big plastic fender). Getting it checked out tomorrow.

I couldn't stand the bus-like handling of the Equinox, so I switched to a Nissan Murano rental. Surprisingly, it kinda handles and feels like my old RSX. I almost forgot how much of a chore it was to have a stiff steering wheel and noisy tires. But it's more fun to drive than the IS, since it reminds me of my RSX or go carts

Most insurance companies are now recognizing diminished value due to an accident. However, you can only recognize this amount when you sell the car. For example; my Maxima was rear ended a year or two before I traded it in on the IS and the Lexus dealer gave me over book value so there was no diminished value claim I could make.
