Yes. See the install instructions for the genuine Lexus kit, which someone posted in an earlier thread: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/att...5&d=1165514125

I think a few of you misunderstood my point earlier. I don't really expect Lexus to give me an 07 car. I do, however, expect a professional looking installation job on my XM radio. I think the industry standard for new cars is a color matched cap on the antenna mounted on the roof. I think if Lexus had no way of performing a professional looking installation on the antenna, they should not have offered XM radio as an option. At the bare minimum, if they were going to install the XM with such a tacky antenna installation, I should have been advised about that ahead of time.
I think that if I ordered an upgraded wheel and they installed them with ugly, painted lugnuts, I would have complained about that also even if they used the excuse that "the 2006 doesn't have the right size wheel studs for the nice lugnuts". If they can't do it right, they shouldn't do it at all.
I am really upset about this and I don't think I am being unreasonable. Why do I have to put up with substandard performance from my lexus, when Honda, Toyota, Nissan, etc... can do this right? If you guys think that I am unreasonable because I want Lexus to fix this, I would suggest that you guys are way too accepting of poor service.

I don't care what kind of car you buy, Dealership and reasonable do not go hand in hand. I would skip the dealership altogether and call Toyota directly.

I feel your pain and understand your frustration. I very much wanted to install XM in my 2006 IS 350, but Lexus has not included any acceptable antenna solutions, and nothing I've found aftermarket is acceptable either.
It baffles me as to why Lexus includes XM ability in the audio system but offers no antenna options in the 2006.

i have a 2007 awd is 250 with the shark fin. i have the premium radio. no nav. i got an terk xm reciever with the VAIS interface for it because the dealer quoted me $600 for the xm installation! i had it installed yesterday at circuit city (saved myself about $300) and the installer told me that he could not use the shark fin because it was for sirius sat radio.. different frequencies or something like that.. he said it's a toyota thing..so i have the xm antena inside the car ride in front of the third brake light.
does anyone know if i could have had it wired to the shark fin?

I don't think I would have been happy with that installation, but I would have asked ahead of time what type of antenna would have been used and where it would have been placed. But! I am OCD about my car. I find it kinda strange that the ant. isn't color keyed to the car. Sorry to hear about your frustrations, but regardless of that I think that if I was unhappy about it I would have to tell the dealer to uninstall it. But then, I really don't care for XM radio since I have my IPOD set up.

The instructions call for mounting on the trunk lid, but many installers mount it inside the car, on the rear parcel shelf. Some have even hidden it entirely, in the third brake light housing or elsewhere. The stealth installs don't get quite as good reception, so there is a trade-off.
