This is particularly a good win for the IS since it's up against the NEW G35.
It's actually newer than the IS even though it isn't a completely new car.
The IS is the only car I would buy in this segment.
Perfect styling, the fastest, great interior, Lexus quality... This car can't be beat.

gotta love it - 4.9 sec 0-60... bring it on :-).
13.5 1/4 is what people have beeng getting on for a while now on the track, especially with cooler days...
Not only that, but it also had best slalom times (!) at 66.7, which is probably due to VDIM de-activation switch...
Of course, both Acura and G35 had manual transmissions... cant imagine what would be outcome if they were AT's :-).

p.s. I read in Japanese Online Magazine that Lexus has improved suspension for 2007 MY, and that it rides much better now - never saw that in any of the US reviews, but it might explain them liking the feel of IS.

"What a great engine. It is silky smooth, quiet but really potent. It is hard to believe that the Lexus and Infiniti have the same horsepower with roughly the same curb weight. The IS feels that much quicker".
Oops.

Hopefully this will squash the criticism that the IS350 cannot handle well, and is only good for straight-line speed. I have said this since the IS350 first came out: with VDIM de-activated, the IS350's true performance potential would be shown, and I was right.
And if you go back to the 3GS launch, Lexus promised that they would be making more frequent updates and additions to Lexus models to be more competitive with the German brands.
It's certainly possibly some tweaks, adjustments, or improvements were made with the MY 2007 IS to improve competitiveness in the market.

A number of publications have noted the VQ35HR still lacks the refinement of the 2GR-FSE, not to mention the fuel economy.
