Default Multiple calipers for the IS350???

I went to the dealership to buy a set of front pads for my 350 after the ones I ordered online were completely wrong eventhough they are listed by Raybestos as being correct. The parts guy brings out the same size/shape pads and I told him that these were not the right ones. He said they have another set listed as being for the 350 which he brought out and they were correct. His computer was down so he said he couldn't find out why they were different. He said it was possible that the AWD and non-AWD ISs have different calipers but since there is no AWD IS350, he clearly didn't know what he was talking about so I didn't bother asking him any more questions.

Are there different calipers on IS350 models? Maybe one of the packages comes with different calipers? Or maybe the early models, as we bought pretty early (12/05), had different calipers which they have since changed?

I'm just going to throw this out here.....

Which size tires do you have on your car? The 17's or 18's?

When you got your car did you get the summer tires or AS?

Maybe it is possible some people got sport brakes and some did? Or I could just be discredited right now. LOL

I have 18s. I thought all 350s came with 18s though? Not sure about the tires. I will have to check.

350s has bigger front brakes than 250s and they come with 17s standard.

That doesn't explain why there are two completely different sets of pads listed for the 350 though.

There is only 1 size / type caliper for the front and 1 for the rear of the IS350.

That definitely makes sense but I have seen with my own eyes that the pads listed for the IS350 that both the dealership and an aftermarket company tried to sell me are completely different than the ones currently on my car so I am a little confused at this point.

I'm looking at the Lexus parts catalog as we speak. The 350 has one part number only. 04465-30410. There is no such thing as "sport" or "sport package" brakes.

Default Pads

The reason that happened is because when a Lexus dealership looks up a set of pads on there electronic parts catalog, as soon as they type in the year it will show them both part numbers on the same screen. Both IS250 and 350. Now if the guy knows his Lexus' he would know the 350 has the two piston caliper, and the 250 one piston. If he doesn't, and just goes of the screen, then he would see this

04465-30410 2005-08/ front pads usage GSE21
04465-53020 2005-08/ front pads usage GSE20; 25

and would tell you that there are two different parts for your vehicle.

Thanks Luis, that would probably explain it. The Raybestos web site also shows the incorrect pads for the 350 although they aren't the same ones it shows for the 250. I figured that both places couldn't be wrong but that makes three of us. Here is a pic if anyone is interested.

Are you going to add brake pads for 2IS to your site soon Luis so no one else has to go through this?

Front brake pads are 95.48$ At Van Nuys, CA

but the service is crazy 328 dollars including parts, each front side. So that's almost 700$

I paid $84 for them. You can buy them on ebay from a local (AZ) dealership for $59 but I didn't have time to wait for delivery. Just search for IS350 brake pads.

I believe this is exactly what the parts catalog looks like. The 350, is in fact, the GSE21.
