IS350 100% Japanese?
Okaaaaaay.
So this is going to start out stupid let me explain.
My friends are all car enthusiasts and we are all very different in our opinions. Okay basically two like Chevy, one is Suby, and I am Toyota.
We all pick on each other. However, my Suby friend was telling me that Suby is the only Japanese car manufacturer that is truly 100% Japanese meaning...
Everything, all their parts, down to the plastic push pins are made in Japan. I don't know for a fact that Lexus is but my VIN sure as hell reflects so!
I know our cars are manufactured in a plant in Japan along with like two other cars but I am not sure if our parts are all Japanese.
So does anyone know if our car is 100% Japanese? I am told there is a parts list that specifies what it is.. Like 70% German 30% Mexican as far as parts are concerned. I don't remember seeing this on the Lexus, but then I never really looked for it.
Need to know so I can be like.. "BAM!!!!!!!!! SO am I!!!!"

Tell him....
that most likely HIS car manufacturer is getting parts from some small country as well....! And the IS350 is made in Japan! Sure it might have a bolt or two made from China, India, or Mexico but, that doesn't mean that it's not considered Japanese!
Consider this! I work for Toyota here in KY and we all know that the car is built in the US! Even the Japanese Executives consider the cars built here to be built in the US! Just coz a small part is made in some other country does NOT mean it's not 100%.
....Search it up on google and you might be able to find how many parts there are in a typical automotive! I think the number might be somewhere above 10K+!!!

Yes, the IS is MADE IN JAPAN.
NO it is NOT 100% Japan. It is 95% Japan and 5% foreign parts. That is what I remember seeing on the sticker. I'll check to make sure when I pick up my car this afternoon.

But the 95% and 5% figures were what I was looking for!
Cool. Thanks! I'll check my sticker this evening as well.

This is an OLD discussion... Do a search...
the IS is 100% japanese
the reason the sticker says 95% japan and 5% USA is because at the port in the USA they add on things like the spoiler, cargo net, trunk mat, etc... that's the 5% USA...
