Default Does your heater blow

I noticed while driving this morning that even with the HVAC controls set to the floor position that I still have a fair amount of air coming from the dash vents. Anybody else experiencing this?

yup mine does the same. i posted this same question in the summer and everyone said its normal. my G35 was specific, if it was on defrost nothing else blew, but the IS seems to still vent from all areas a little.

Switch from "fresh" to "recycle" and it should stop blowing...

I did switch to the recirc mode but it didn't make any difference and realistically it shouldn't, all that does is take air from the inside of the car instead of the outside it doesn't(or shouldn't) affect the distribution doors. I'm gonna plug in the scanner and see if there is a recalibration of the doors that can be performed.

Default vents

Yeah, Its seems you have to be specific for floor heat. You have to move the roller switch beside the vents to 'X'. That stops air flow from exiting the vents. But you have to remember to open them when you want air from the dash vents. Kinda strange to have to move the vent control 'manually' to off, for a system that tries to do everything automatically for you.
Just a small quirk, I have to do the same thing on my Montero. Not a biggie.

Ya, It was the same on my 94' ES 300 when you put it on feet it still blew out of the side vents. Im not sure if its used to help regulate the entire cars temperature or what...

This is common to all Toyota climate control designs. It was this way on my '88 GTS Corolla, '93 GTS Celica, '93 & '94 Supras, even the '98 Landcruiser.

Recirc does shut off outside air to the two upper vents. It's the only thing that does.
