Headlight Adjustment Success!
#121
A couple comments: first, I tried the 10mm socket method in the rear of the car which was supposed to be really easy and works great. It is actually more trouble than the proper method, and made only a very tiny difference.
The screwdriver under the hood is really easy and works unbelieveably well. Do what the owners manual and the PDF says, and adjust both screws on each side. Turn your screwdriver COUNTERCLOCKWISE which turns the adjustment bolt clockwise and raises the headlights. Remember to do both adjustments on each side. You'll need an 8" philips screwdriver and a little "feel" and faith because you can't see into the hole to turn the hidden adjustment screw. But you'll feel it turning.
I turned the adjustment gear 2 full turns on each side (which is 10 turns of the screwdriver) and it made a very noticeable difference. Good luck.

OK, because I love you guys so much I went downstairs and took apart the engine covers and took pictures... Here we go...
Picture of the engine with all covers on:
Picture of the engine with all covers off:
Picture of the Driver's side headlight screw location:

Picture of the Passenger's side headlight screw location:

Another closeup of the Passenger's side headlight screw with the arrow showing how the screwdriver should be inserted and the adjustment screw with a circle around it:
And of course, all of this is on my website as well...
Hope this helps!

Is there any possible way that you take a picture of all the placement of all 4 adjustment nuts?
i have tried to read from the pdf but i still cant find the one that is for horizontal adjustments. btw, i have lost my owner manual.
i am new in adjusting such things. Sorry once again to ask for the help from all of you guys.

Do you have the HID lights or halogen? I have halogens, and I took apart my headlights and everything, and I failed to find a horizontal aim. I'm pretty sure only HIDs have the horizontal ones.

After replacing a water damaged headlight assembly on my 2007 IS250 with HID and AFS - I needed to adjust the lamp. I read posts on this forum and others but really wasn't sure what those bolts were doing. So, at my peril, I dremeled into my old headlight assembly so I could see how it worked.
