What does "Category: A" mean in the Vehicle Inquiry Report?
Hi all,
I finally pulled the trigger and placed an order for an IS350 with my dealer.
My salesperson had to preference the car for me because there is none in the area with the color and options that I wanted.
She was nice and sent me this Vehicle Inquiry Report on which it states the Category is A.
I did a search here and I think people have mentioned:
F means Freight (on the way to the dealer)
G means Ground (on the dealer lot)
Does anyone know what A means? Maybe Allocate? Does it mean that it is on a boat somewhere? How long do I have to wait from this point on?
Any help is appreciated!

For those who are curious, here is part of the report:
I am not sure why Engine Number is blank, Vessel Number is 999, Invoice Date and Ship Date are also blank......
I sure hope I don't have to wait 3 months for this......

it's allocated, get excited when the A turns into F (freight) then get REALLY excited when it turns into G (ground). But at least it's in their inventory. Usually when a car is allocated it should be in the neighborhood of 4-6weeks to delivery.

Yup, "A" stands for allocated which means the car has been promised to the dealer. Your car will arrive in only 2-3 weeks!!!!
It's even better that they gave you the printout, it's a way of knowing your dealer isn't going to play any tricks as far as getting the right car is concerned. Congrats!

When did you place the order?
It typically takes about 4months from the time you place an order till you actually get the car....
I placed mine on Sept. 26th and the car was to arrive at Seattle port on Jan.4th. So, I am HOPING that I can get the car around Jan. 20-26th....

Thanks for all the replies!!
I live in the BayArea, so they will have to transport it from Long Beach.
Given the fact that there is no vessel number, I am assuming it has not left Japan yet......?
Anxiously waiting here......

My sales lady said she would preference it for me, so I don't think this is a special order, but I am not sure. All I know is that it is allocated.

The "current dealer" code seems to have the format: 310-xxxxx
The "previous dealer" code is only 00310, so it may mean there is no previous dealer.....
Just a guess

New Special Order Rules
I special ordered an RX450h 3 weeks ago and was told today it is now in Freight status - I'm told that means it's been assigned to a truck and should be here in 2-3 days - so less than a month :-)
